Growing up in the west in the late 80s/early 90s Grunge was an ever present factor in my life. I didn't see any threads designated to this amazing time in music.

I think of it more as a time period than a genre because the artists within the classification are so diverse. Look at the main 4. Soundgarden is like stoner metal, Alice in Chains is an outstanding heavy rock band, Pearl Jam is channeling the era of arena rock, and Nirvana is as alternative as it gets.

The thing that really bothers me is everyone forgets about the bands that really carried the genre for those of us who were in the loop. 20 years later no one has heard of Mudhoney or Screaming Trees or L7 or Greenriver or Seven Mary 3 or anything but the four I mentioned and the a few others. I guess it can all be attributed to lots of Heroin and the overall slacker and non-conformist attitude of generation x.

So if you're like me and miss your 90s youth or are a little younger and wish you had a 90s youth post some vids and talk the talk.

the reunion of the band that spawned the genre's giants
