Allright...this is my growtent. Its in my garage. Theres a 400 W hps from HTGsupply and a 4 inch Growbright inline fan. It moves 170 CFM. I just got it all setup and whatnot, and my temps are still running WAY too high...temps highest get about 90F Now I dont know if my fan is just not powerful enough to exhaust all the air quick enough or if I do not have it set-up correctly? I was also thinkin...I exhaust straight into my garage. So i dont know if thats a no-no or...?I open the garage a couple times a day so the air is re-circulated few times a day. When I zip it up I can see there is negative pressure cuz the sides of the tent suck in but Im still stumped on why my temps run so high Help!!
if all your doing is recirculating hot air.. its gonna get hot if this was my grow... get a air cooled hood.. and connect my ducting to that and punch a hole in the wall into the house and pull air from there... problem solved
What I did when my grow got too hot and my grow was in the garage. I ran some ducting to my garage house door and cut a piece of wood and cut a hole in the bottom of that so my ducting would fit. It pulled cool air from the house. Dropped my grow 15 degrees. Your gonna need cooler air. How ever you get it. This is a simple cheap fix. Ducting and a hole or piece of wood replacing a door.
heres what i did to get my temps down, i too had very high room temps before. i added a piesce of tempered glass to the bottom of my light to help seal the hood. also put a thin layer of window seal around the edge to seal better. then just attach ducting to the hood than to the fan then out the room. it pretty ugly but my temps are down by 15 degrees! my light is now cool to the touch
I might do the tempered glass part but mines not an air-cooled hood so I cant hook the ducting up to that...
Haha I never thought of that. Guess I could do huh. So explain to me exactly how setup should be. Ducting from reflector to inline fan, ducting off inline fan to...? Pics would help
if it were my grow... i'd put the fan inside the tent.. suspended from the ceiling.. where your ducting is in the picture with a small piece of ducting to my light... and ducting out of the tent to my home made filter... cutting a hole in the side of your reflector is easy... and all you would have to do is grab a flange and stick it threw your hood so you can crimp your ducting to it... its the first picture inline http://forum.grasscity.com/do-yourself/518723-diy-carbon-scrubber-6-flange.html
Depending on your fan, a 400w usually stays within 5-10 degrees above ambient temp. What matters right now is your ambient temp of the garage it seems. If you can lower that youre golden. Can you move it inside? Make a somewhat passive intake from ducting and a window outside? Shouldve thought about location before stepping into it and buying x amount of supplies. I would do all that when a simple relocation could solve problems a-z. -d00bzzz
I actually just moved it from inside. Stealth isn't an issue or anything. I just wanted more room in general.
was it that hot inside? gonna have to air cool your light.... cut some holes... gonna have to get a new one anyway.. why not see if you can make what you have work
No, temperatures were fine inside, like I said I just wanted to have more room to work with, thus brought it in the garage. I think I will cut a hole in the reflector attach the ducting, run it to my fan and then have that exhausting air outside the tent.
No no, ive been away from home so havent had time. But got home yesterday and the temp was actually quite perfect, 75F. So I think itll mighta just been like a hot dry spell here and its cooling down again....well see tho... Thanks for all the help tho bro. Im still gonna take u up on that DIY air-cooled hood
