Hey community I really need your help! So I live in new York city in a Apartment! Yes a apartment lol and I decided I want to peruse my dream and grow weed. I did my research and decided to build a grow locker. I came across something called the deluxe super closet and the dimensions are 4x2x6 and after taxes and everything they come out to around $3,500 and I know I can build something better. I bought a 4x2x6 locker and I plan converting it to a badass stealth grow box. I need stealth and my biggest issue is smell. I am going to install a 6inch inline fan with a carbon filter from AC infinity and from my research it will scrub the grow locker well. My question is will the exhaust that is pumping outside really be odorless? Will the smell leak outside the locker? There will be negative pressure in the locker btw. My biggest concern will be how much will it smell in flower stage when im opening it up to water? Will it stink so bad that I will blow my cover? How can I open my tent and have almost no odor leak out? I feel like it possible to pull this off but I need some ideas to help cover the smell. Hope this is possible! Has anyone else grow in a area where its illegal in a apartment and been successful?
For that size a simple 4" fan would work. Double filter to be cuatious( one in the tent upstream of the fan and one down stream of the fan. As for smell good luck, generally the fan will keep everything inside negative pressure, which is good, but once opened the plant is going to shoot out invisible Ray's of stink that can seemingly penetrate the walls in short time lol. Best to way to water is open the bottom an do your business. Utilizing the negative pressure to to keep sucking. And try not to shake or move the plant too much as it'll stink up more. From seed you got about 2 weeks before a tomato plant musk shows up Usually by a month the musk is more identifiable. Into flower your good for the first couple weeks by around 4 weeks from signs of flower is when the smell kicks in over time. And won't be easily contained.

I have twenty of the 2v288 rspec boards in operation ; HLG is top of the line equipment , there is the Asian Chinese/Taiwanese made LED grow lights that are one third the cost of HLG < Horticulture Lighting Group .< Allot of members swear by these .... I have never owned one of these lights ,,, but the name of one of them is Kingbrite . If your going to buy Kingbrite lights I cant help you ... .but i wanted to give a couple different references . Some members and growers dont like certain Led Light makers , so you will get different suggestions . Understanding LED lighting can be very complicated . Next is ventilation Not all inline fans are equal just as not all lighting is equal , you want a smooth running quiet in line exhaust fan. I use Active air commercial fans . they are expensive but run forever ,, look on craigs list normally some grower is always dumping their grow equipment .. To consider ,, small 4 inch fan you will need to run faster then a 6 inch fan .. My point is I think the 6 inch fan will be less noise . Its a couple bucks more for the 6 inch fan , and a 6inch fan would be considered over kill but your still pushing air through you carbon filter You need a speed controller Hydrofarm > Atmospheric Control > Ventilation/Air Conditioning > Active Air Duct Fan Speed Adjuster From there you need to decide what grow medium you plan on using . These grow kits from what i have seen normally dont use the best equipment , But 3500.00 it should be made of gold . Hope this helps ...
You want the inside of your grow room to be in a vacuum .. If any air is to be moving your grow space needs be sucking fresh air from either inside your home or from a vent going outside . I think inside your home is the better option . You need a exhaust vent to the outside .. But your grow room needs to ALWAYS be in a vacuum to stop the smell from escaping through little cracks in your locker cabinet . Once operating blow smoke around the cabinet ,,, the smoke needs to be sucked into your cabinet 24/7 to control the scent of MJ If your going with a double air filter I would get the 6 inch inline fan .. Your plants need fresh air , and need to be maintained at a certain temp .. Mid 70's for the plants ... but the roots like a colder temp if possible .. If you have to plum in colder air then vent the colder air to around the root system .. Keeping your grow cabinet at the right temps at first might be tricky Make sure your soil/compost has good drainage . Bad drainage in warm temps and you will get root rot .
