Growing Up is Hard : /

  1. Dances here!

Just wanted to express some of my youngster angst about growing up.

I am currently 19, enrolled in college.

Growing up is hard. It is. Every part about it.

Paying bills, rent, working, studying, relationships start becoming more business-like and not friends-on-the-playground, sex, drugs, philosophy, daily stressors....etc.

Can any of the responsible, older blades who have their lives together give me some tips on growing up into the adult world.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease! :)

  2. Also 19, just subbing. Was thinking the exact same shit earlier today. Mid-life crisis at 19? Haha

Couldn't agree more with your "friends on the playground" line by the way

  3. Growing up is fun. Life is hard

I'm 20, and I haven't found it too difficult. Sure some months are worse than others, but I've had no troubles paying all my bills. I set all my bill payments up to just come out of my account when they are due. It makes it alot less stressful on me

I love growing up, the freedom to make my own decisions, and buy all my own stuff. It makes me proud to own it knowing I worked my ass off to buy it.

I'm not one to really plan ahead, I just kind of go where the road takes me. Whatever happens, happens. Just take the good with the bad.

  5. Growing up really isn't that hard

Pretty much everything revolves around time management. Pay your bills on time; study on time; turn-in assignments on time; schedule time with your significant other, etc.

Once you learn time management, everything falls into place.

Stop holding onto the past, and learn how to forge a future that you can enjoy.

  6. paying bills> everything! There a special type of calm that rushes your body when you know you owe nothing to anyone. Everything else will just fall in place, no rush just sit back and enjoy the ride.

  7. stay at it, as hard as it gets.. as much as it feels like your on the chopping block.. just take it day by day, work on being positive and seeing eveything from other perspectives then your own..

treat others like you'd like to be treated (even when it seems useless)

  8. I am not holding onto the past, just being acutely aware of all the changes occurring.

I love growing up and being independent! The idea that I can forge my own destiny is exciting, but it is also ominous at the same time.

I am going to be such a "big kid" when I am older and have kids.

I love having fun, and I dislike when adults think they can't simply because they have some image they feel like they have to achieve.

  9. I'm 19 too, going into the marine corps this winter.

When I was 16 all I could think about was growing up, now I wish I valued my time more back then. Everything has become so real.

  10. It's that transition phase between flipping off 'the man' and sucking his dick. Either you learn to love it or you live on the fringe.

Of course I'm a very cynical person.

Haha I like that. That's the truth right there.

I guess I'm going to the most extreme form of sucking the systems dick signing my life over to
    the government and all.

  12. Agree on that, life was so much better as a kid...

  13. It is not that life was better as a kid, cause it wasn't.

I kinda get off on the idea that everyone's life is completely random, and pain and suffering could very well be part of your life as much as grandiosity and wealth.

Interesting concept, never thought of it quite like that, but I'd still rather be wealthy than go through half the shit I do on a daily basis haha.

You just need to break out of your shell man. You'll get it eventually, just takes longer for some people.

  20. It all starts with a job. At least for me. Having security with money is a great thing. I am a college student, used to just ask for money from my parents, but I felt horrible. Felt like a bum. Trying to scrounge around for free food, making money last as long as possible. Fuck that shit.

I got myself a job, and now I do whatever the fuck I want. Just took a surf trip down south which I paid for all with my own hard earned cash. Its nice having security. It allows me to not worry about when i'm going to eat next, and allows me to focus on shit I like to do. Don't worry about finding out things that you like to do. If you have money then you have options. It will work itself out. Don't stress too hard about work, just know that money is a starting point to allow you to do things that you want to do. Studying and working at the same time is tough, but fuck it, its better than just going to school and being a bum.
