Growing soil with Coco nutrients

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by BenRh, Dec 31, 2019.

  1. Hi Guys
I'm just about to start my first grow and I'm just wondering if it's alright to use coco nutrients for soil. I would use soil nutrients but I can't find any at my local hydro shops. I was recommended BAC Coco for soil but I'm just a touch unsure about using coco nutrients for soil. What do people recommend there are a couple organic nutrients a bit more expensive that I could use but don't really care if it's organic or not.

  2. I’ve never used that line of nutes but I took a look at its content label. Perfectly fine to use with soil. Just get yourself a TDS meter and use that to gauge the TDS PPM for the different stages of growth so your not over feeding it. Since soil will retain more of the salts then coco normally would.

  3. I think that the idea with coco nutrients is that it like...adds living stuff...because coco is inert, something like that.
I would think maybe with soil, you may end up with too much of either that, or whatever "food" is...this is, if you're meaning like bagged/time release fertiliser type soil that is. If it's just in like, ground mud...you might be a bit more ok there.
I dunno. The good thing is, any fuck ups will show slow enough for you to fix I'd say.

  4. i know quite a few growers (tight arse ones) that has used coco nutrients in soil with no bad effects at all they swapped mediums from coco to soil and did not want to waste the coco nutrients but i think it because there tight AF lol

  5. The only issue I can see possible is if they’re ph buffered for hydro as it would be a bit low for soil. Other than that there is no reason not to use them.

  6. I'm thinking of using canna terra potting mix if that helps

    Which one?

Edit: if it’s the canna terra professional one they have on their website then it’s ph buffered. Still, I’d keep an eye on the ph to make sure you’re feeding at close to the right ph.

  8. Why not just use coco nutes with coco?
There’s zero point imo of using bottled nutes with soil. If you wanna grow soil do it organically with a proper living soil or decent composted manure etc.

using bottled nutes in soil is as difficult as it gets for growing. And coco is about as easy as it gets.

i agree always check ph before feeding coco your growing blind without checking ph

  10. If using soil, why use bottled nutrients? The whole benefit to soil growing is staying organic. Build a soil and feed water only, or some nutrient teas as needed. By feeding bottled nutrients in soil, you destroy the micro life in the soil. That’s where all the flavonoids and terpenes come from

If you must use bottled nutes, stick to hydro or a soilless medium to get the hydro benefits of those nutrients.

  11. Thank you for everyone's advice. I was going to keep it old school with soil after some research I think I will try coco

  12. Much easier way to go mate. Just feed quarter strength nutes at least once a day and not much can really go wrong :)
Just got 50L if coco through the door there too so I’ll be starting some up later on woop woop.
