Growing outdoors in the winter??

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by ripterr, Sep 24, 2009.

  1. Ok so its late september (Southern Florida!),,,is it to late to plant a few 10 inch female plants in semi-shady spots in a random forest? Keep in mind that florida winters dont have TOO many super cold nights,etc...

    Honest oppions please :D

  2. Its to late to start now, the light cycles will be messed up. Time to go indoors.

  3. Actually, the equinox was yesterday so the days will just get shorter for the next few months. I would guess they would start to flower right away and finish fast because of their dwindling light supply. Shit, put one out just to see if it flowers quicker.

  4. Yeah I guess it could flower early. I dont know how big she would get. Probably worth a try.

  5. I'd give them as much sunlight as you can, with your mild climate you really have no worries from frost and such. they will flower fairly quickly though i'm sure...

  6. I'm still sowing seed for my 2009-2010 garden. I do vegetate under lights and then put the plants outside to flower.

I'm not sure how good your plants will do directly outdoors. I had a "volunteer" that sprouted last fall that I left to grow on its own. It never got over 12" but made a few small buds.

I'd say anywhere south of Port St. Lucie should be pretty much frost-free.

  7. im in florida too, my grow was stunted, got hit by a weedwacker. but its one 6 inch nug, and only gets about 4-5 hours of sunlight a day because of where it is, so im sure itll work out a little bit

  8. ouch!

  9. haha, yeah and kind of ironic that my weed plant got hit by a weed wacker...:(

  10. Holy shit thats hiliarious and sad all at the same time damn and as for growing in south florida where i live in palm beach a friend of mine just finished this week a really fine lookin late crop that was planted in august late august at that and let me tell you its by far good quality bud it actually turned the tops buds on the top colas all purple from the cold nights and the warm days kept the growth from being stunted to much as she was a 5-6 foot monster and we are setting out a few for winter expermenting im more concerned over the frost then the light being good we get same hours of light almost year round im not sure but i believe UV-B rays are less then they are in the summer so trichrome production will suffer a little

Heres some pics of not the monster one but from one we harvested but of one of the same strain we harvested about 2 weeks before the monster id say around November 1-15 but as you can kinda see the tops began to turn purple a lil on those too from the few cold nights but it wasnt as much as the later crop
