growing opium/poppys under HID

    anyone ever grown poppys under a MH or HPS lamp? i've never smoked real opium (but i've been burned by buying what was called "red rock" which is nothing but dragons blood incense, which for some reason when mixed with bud fucks you up more so than the bud alone would) but long to try it. if anyone has grown poppys indoors give me a shout and tell me about it. thanks!

    dragons blood is smokeable? i have it but never considered smoking the stuff:confused:

    Theres a difference between poppy and opium poppy. They are two different plants im not sure of the difference but you can legally grow opium poppy.

    There is no point..

    You need like 50 plants to get just a couple grams of opium. One plant wont get you even enough to get fucked up once. Just grow it outside, its legal.

    And Sirsm0kesal0t: All poppy varieties contain opium, its just certain types that have more than others.

    grow it outside. it needs pretty much no care at all. just toss the seeds on the ground and let it grow.

    once it has flowered, harvest the latex on the immature pods. do this a couple times and then you can just let them make seeds for next year.

    ooh and make sure to get papaver somniferum L.

    thanks for all the replys. i know it's legal to grow outside, but it's august for fucks sake. will be cold up here in two months. i know which ones to get, how to harvest opium ect...but i didn't know that it takes so many poppys to get so little opium. i'll prolly wait until next spring and just grow them outside.

    well it should probably be able to grow indoors anyway. but you'd need a fairly large grow room. i'd say min. 2m X 2m if you wish to produce enough to smoke a few times.

    i've made a bit with the poppies which grow all over my vegetable garden :rolleyes: those little bastards decided to overgrow the place over the years. my grand parents planted the first ones probably 15 years ago. so you can imagine how it is nowadays...

    they do... but it would be pretty much useless to try to harvest opium from california or finland poppies. on the other hand, you could probably use the dry pods to make some tea
