I'm thinking about switching over to all organic, water-only. I've done a ton of reading and learned a lot. But one thing I kept seeing people say is, "you have to dial in your mix for each different strain". So my question is..... How do you grow multiple strains, at the same time, with the same mix? I'm not interested in growing one strain at a time.
You take notes my friend. In general sativas like less nutrients than indicas, but every situation could be different. Most of our posted mixes are not too hot nutrient wise, but instead are microbe rich. To get this way, you should have a 20% humic content using either ewc or thermo compost then give your soil time for nutrient cycling to get going. The standard time recommended is one one month. Once your soils microbes have nutrients stored in them, the plants will dictate their needs and wants to them. This way is much gentler on the plants than pouring soluble nutrients on the soil........MIW
I essentially use a water only mix and am growing 7 different strains: ChemDawg, H2 (Hawaiian Cotton Candy X Kush), G13XHZ, Sweetest Cindy 99, Mazar, Blue Mystik, and The One. They are all in the same mix and all very healthy. I agree with MI Wolverine that a microbe-rich soil will cycle nutrients and also buffer the plant as well, allowing you to grow different plants successfully. I do water with a ProTekt, LC-10+7, and Seaweed solution because I'm looking to maximize growth, but it's not necessary. I've grown out some plants with just the soil mix as well.
My last grow had three separate varieties with one mix, and all were fed the same. If anyone can remember we had a thread on sour diesel a while ago, with the OP lamenting how finicky it was, and I replied how I thought it was a simple to grow plant? It's the living soil thing once again, it's that good.......MIW
