Growing Marijuana in the attic

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by b_what_I_wana_b, Oct 3, 2007.

  1. So, I've decided to take on the task of growing some (1-3 plants) in my attic. I've heard this can be tough because it gets REALLY hot (especially where I live) and there's not much venting. I don't really have any other choices, this is the only place I can grow my pot.

We have a air conditioning system and the main vent that sucks out all of the air from my house is up there(I'll take some pictures sometime soon when the family member with the digi camera gets back) It's just a normal air conditioning unit that cools and pumps air out around my house ( I was thinking this could possibly be used to help cool my plants or something) I've heard this is a mighty task. I thought if anyone knew what to do it would be the pro's here.

Anyways, one last thing, I am on a really tight budget so I'd like to do this as CHEAP as possible. (thus the reason I'm suggesting using the air system in the attic to help out with some of the problems that come along with growing up there)

    Thanks and happy smoking!:smoke:

  2. I should have the pictures tomorrow or the next day. I'm surprised nobody has responded!

  3. anyone have any input?

  4. I'm planning on doing one soon with my attic. I live in New Jersey though and we have mild winters. Mine has vents on each side and im gonna install an intake and outtake fans. Gonna use cfls for veg and the old 400 watt for flower. Where do you live i'd say its possible in the winter if it doesnt get to cold.

  5. FWIW, I gave up on an attic grow a few years back. It got really hot up there when the sun was beating down, but it also can get really cold up there in the coming months.

Also, I don't think it's a good idea to grow in the same area where the house a/c unit is located -- I get mine serviced twice a year, what about at your house?

  6. We havn't had ours serviced and it's probably been a couple years now. I've heard it can be hard growing in an attic, I live in the deep south so it's always hot up there, extremely hot... I figured this was going to be out of my league, guess I need to figure out another way to grow... seeing as that was the only possible spot I could grow in my house. Guess I might look into doing it outside, but ehh...

  7. i'm also thinking of growing in my attic, but i'm a heat and air man so i don't have to worry about a serviceman poking around up there. i plan on framing in a small area 6x6 or so. i'm going to insulate my little room as you would a normal room in any house. with proper venting and air circulation i don't anticipate any problems. if there's a problem with temp being high or low an old window unit could be ducted into the space using tape and dryer vent. i'll post pix of mine as i put it together, although it might not be in the immediate future.

  8. Think down maybe; dig a large enough spot under your house. Be sur to not disturb footings and piers,

    Good luck
