So i have a couple of Gavita 906050 Pro DE 1000w 240v only lights. Is there any way to convert them to 110? Any help would be appreciated.
It would be worth your while to just run 240 volt lines to them. The money it costs you to run a new electrical line will be paid for in a year with electrical efficiency savings comparing the amp draw of the lights in 240v compared to 110v or compared to buying a converter for each light.
It's easier then you might think. Add a double 100amp breaker to your current panel, run a large wire off of that to a subpanel and add breakers that power receptacles for the lights at 240.
Thanks a lot I'm going to look into that. I have a 220 outlet. Can I just change the outlet? The braker in the fuse box says its 110/240
All you need is a available 2 slots in the breaker box to add a new 240v breaker for a subpanel in the grow room. How many lights do you need to power?
All you need is a double 50 for the panel you have because that's a common breaker for a 240v stove and cheap. Just have to know what brand breakers your panel takes to slot one in. 8 gauge wire can cover up to 50 amps. That is no problem for 2 lights/fans/ect. Get enough 8/3 or 8/4 wire to run to the subpanel. Get a 100 amp subpanel from amazon and a 240v 30 amp breaker for your subpanel to wire a wall mount box with a 240v plug for the lights.
The outlet in there i thought was 220 is really 250v 30amp L6-30 outlet. Can i just change that plug?
What kind of timers you planning to use for those ? I would consider what type of connections your timers have, before buying any plugs. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71kD7P8+YAL._SL1414_.jpg https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81eLakniuGL._SL1375_.jpg Typical 240 V timer...What I use.
