Growing in five gallon buckets

  1. DO you need to cut drain holes in the bottom or will the plant asrb all the water?

If I do have to cut holes how many do I need?

  2. i would go with 8 or 10 holes on the outer edge of the bucket. by outer edge i mean on the side/bottom of the bucket. some super experienced growers dont use drainage holes but if you dont know exacly what your doing the plant is gonna rot out

  3. Drainage holes are a must. I usually do 10 about dime sized at the flat bottom of the bucket, and like ^ says, the bottom of the sides as well.

  4. no drainage = rotten roots unless you can water at EXACTLY the right times.

  5. I third that. Even when I use pots that have some drainage holes I still drill more.

  6. Yea, i even drilled some down the sides to help with aeration since plastic doesnt breathe like clay does and is so deep.
