  1. My friends has a attic space that can only be accessed from his room and we have chosen to grow up there. there are 2 air vents in the attic that go straight out side .. i was thinking of hooking this up to a grow box so most the smell goes outside.. ( this is what i should do right..) we want 2 grow as much as possible without it smelling downstairs so how many plants do you think we could grow.. ( i was thinking 6? )also what lights will we need to purchase ( can i buy lights from home depot that will work or do i need to buy them online? ) i also was wondering how long the process would take and how much weight 6 successful plants could make..

i appreciated any help or tips you can give me.

and what strains grow the easiest and fastest.. ( im clueless about this )

    THANKS!!

  2. This better be his house and not his parents house.. If it does not belong to him dont risk it..

The attic will need to be properly cleaned and sprayed with bug repellent.. Treat the room as a medical ward it NEEDS TO BE CLEAN! There are many manty guides on this forum on how to setup a grow room..

But I cannot stress enough, if you live with parents dont risk having them go to jail/lose their house for your mistakes.

  3. You will not want all that stinkiness blowing directly outside... Definitely invest in a good carbon scrubber (you can build your own for pretty cheap).

Since you're thinking about growing in an attic, ventilation is going to be VERY important. You're gonna need to vent all that hot air out... So plan on spending a decent amount on a good fan.

For lighting, you preferably want to go with some form of HID lighting (Either Metal Halide, or High Pressure Sodium), however Compact Florescent (CFL) bulbs are doable, but your yields will suffer.

A pretty good beginner strain would be pretty much any Northern Lights plant (I hear #5 is a really good starter strain).

As for how long the process takes, and how much you will yield - that will vary drastically depending on what strain you choose, how long you let it veg for (before switching to flower), etc.

My best advice to you would be to REALLY read up on growing, before diving right into it. Being prepared will pay off in the long run. There are A LOT of beginner guides here, so please take a little time to do some homework before asking all kinds of questions. Also, we have a search feature here on GC. If you have a question about something, chances are someone else has already asked it, so feel free to run some searches and see what you can't find out on your own.

We are here to help, but it is also good to want to help yourself, as well. :)

  4. Quoted for truth.

IF you grow in your/your friend's parents house, and you get caught, THEY can lose their house. That is not something to take lightly.

  5. You might want to check out Kaya Gold from Nirvana for a good beginner's strain (As mentioned Northern Lights is also good)

  6. I am growing Nirvana's Aurora Indica, which is a Northern Lights X Afgaan Kush cross. It is growing well in my small indoor grow.
