Growing in a straw bale?

  1. I was talking to my mom this weekend about this type of grow technique that she saw at an experimental gardening expo. You use a bale of straw that you pour a manure tea over and let compost for around two weeks. You can then put germinated seeds or a seedling in the straw and it supposedly grows larger and has more of a yield than growing in soil. (at least in the case of the tomato plants that were growing in the demonstration) I am thinking of trying this technique for my upcoming grow, which will also be my first grow. Has anyone here tried this technique before? I googled it and found some guides that I have been reading, but i was just wondering if anyone here has tried this and has any advice for me.

    Thanks,
    Photo.

  2. I guess the only way to know is to try it, but bales of hay are notorious for mold, and can have many types of bugs within...
