Growing horizontally

Okay due to circumstances I have to grow my plant inside a dresser. Obviously less then ideal conditions. So I read you could grow horizontally but there still isn't enough room for the lights so I currently placed the light source adjacent to the plant, will this set up work. I know it sounds dumb but its all I got. I have white reflective material lining the drawer. Also note I am confined to one drawer.
