  1. :eek:hello this is my first time growing i am growing 3 clones outside in pots can anyone help me and please tell me how much water i should give them how many hours of sun i should give them ive been leaving them outside to get sun but i think it gets to hot so i also give them sahde it is around 90 degrees here in california and i don't want the sun to burn them also the ph on them is to high it is 8 and i want to know how to lower it

  2. Dont judge a plants ph by anything other than how the plants leaves look.

water when top of soil looks dry. I poke my pinkie in the soil to confirm it

  3. ^^^ guys smart. smart guy

use the 2nd nuckle trick.. dip a finger (or pinky) into soil, if it's dryish by the second nuckle.. water.. let it run into the soil, then repeat :)

  4. oh and as for sunlight intensity.. all strain dependent..

took me a couple of years of growing to find a strain that works well in my hella hot location 105-110 in the heat of the summer season

  5. sativa syborg, thanks for the compliment above. I am not as smart as stubborn and committed to my beliefs. a fanatic if you will. Big difference between theoretical jabbering and practical smarts, and I have some major improvements to make on the latter.

AS far as your heat issue, I have been recommending aloe vera to growers facing heat stress this whole summer. I keep repeating it because I think it's worth experimenting with. Aloe contains salicylic acid, compound of the raw leaf that begins breaking down with exposure to light oxygen and temperature within 15-30 minutes. Salicyclic acid is worth looking into... and it has been shown to assist plants defences against stress, including heat...

i used aloe on my plants successfully. Who knows how well it works?

that being said, aspirin contains salicylic acid in synthetic form. I wouldn't use aspirin. So your milage with SA may vary.

  6. awesome! how do you apply it?

I blend the aloe with some water, and kelp meal, in the blender, the idea is to get the size of particles as small as possible when you soak the soil, and I add kelp because it can't hurt. The blender really knocks the compounds free of the aloe, in my opinion, and in sum it's a very effective way of getting salicylic acid to plants naturally. the green part of the fillet will float, sometimes i skim it off and mist my plants with the clear, particle- free aloe water. Aloe is also great for mixing a couple drops neem oil in, it is both a surfactant and an emulsifier to the oil.

I spray under leaves, over leaves, stalks, and then soil drench with green material and the remainder. Homedepot has the 99 cent sprayers when it clogs.

disclaimer- too much of any thing is not a benefit IMO. plants produce SA on their own terms, this is only an attempt to boost the plants SA levels naturally. a ratio for 1 gallon water is .5- 1 cup aloe I think... about 15-1 water-aloe. I will blend a 6'' leaf with a gallon, this works well for me.

let me know how it goes!

    hope
