I'm thinking about ordering a grow kit and growing 2-4 plants in my basement. I live in an apartment/townhouse with neighbors on both sides. Can anyone recommend how to smell proof my small grow? or would it be safer just to wait until spring and start an outdoor grow. Recently moved to a new city with no connections and my sack is running out fast.

U could use filters and they work well but to smell proof u will need to seal every thing.
I don't mean completely smell free, just enough so the neighbors don't smell it through the walls and repairmen and such dont smell it when they come in the house.
You just need to add a carbon filter to the air you are pulling out of your grow space. If you want to use a cupboard then you are going to have to make some modifications to it so that you can have adequate air flow in and out. A grow tent is an easy solution if you are worried about smell. They are probably more smell proof than a cupboard or closet grow. You can put a carbon filter on one and they come in different sizes, and you can also tear it down quickly and move it if you have to.
