Growbox in an uninsulated attic? Need Opinions.

  1. Looking to build a clandestine grow box in the attic. First time but I plan to adopt the "Grow-Box design under $600 " from BigBloomer:

I am concerned about the tempurature. I live in the northern states where the temp can hit extremes, especially in an uninsulated attic (-10degrees F - 120 degrees F).
I am just wondering if insulating the outside of the box (Thermal styrofoam) is even worth the time or should I just think about spring and fall growing?

Here are few things that may help:

Air intake will be pulled from inside the house (72- 75 degrees), exhaust will be sent out the roof via the "fart fan".

Box will be damn near airtight and possibly insulated on the outside 1-1 1/2" styrofoam insulation.

I am a first time grower still in the scheming stages, and unfortunatley....this has to be in the attic, real clandestine like.

    Anyway, opinions would be appreciated.

  2. I also live in the northern states, but I can use closets and what ever room I wish.. You're idea seems possible, just have to keep checking on the fans time to time to make sure they are running well, and make sure to have a measuring device for temp. and humidity, if your pulling semi-warm air in it should be fine, might want to get some perlite, just a suggestion. I've known some that have grown during the winter in the northern areas in the basement with no heat cept the growbox and perlite, and they where still very healthy plants.

Hope that helps you some, any more questions of my post just let me know, laters :)
