Grow tents with no light leaks?

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by Callz, Feb 25, 2021.

  1. So every tent I've come across has either a small amount of light leaks or alot (cough cough vivosun). Are there any that are recommended with none? I was looking at gorilla ones because I heard they are tested before sent out but have heard mixed reviews so I'm hesitant. The toplite 2x2 one had none but when I got the smaller 20"x20" ones they had leakes and caused some hermi issues. So what do you guys order that's bullet proof?

  2. I have yet to see any. I had to duct tape some pin holes in my Gorilla tent as well.

  3. Yeah, I've got pinholes in my Gorilla tent too.
That's why I keep it behind dark curtains.

  4. I'm confused why this is even a thing... These tents are suppose to be light proof so why do almost all of them have pinholes lmfao what the actual fk.

Yield lab one I used had pin holes too.

  5. My ggt is much better then the vivosun I started with but just Incase I cover my tent with a large tapestry seems to work just fine.

  7. Haha speaking of, I just said fuck it and put bed sheets on em till I get some real light blocking fabric for em. its just way too much money to replace all of em and the hermis / pollination areas are such a huge head ache in different locations that its just not worth 2nd guessing my self, 1 with the current settup and 2 with what i could potentially even try to replace em with that could simply have the same issue again and again. The Velcro shit is annoying, the zippers sometimes will just leak, that's what they do sometimes even on the best tents, I've accepted defeat. I shall smoke my obama kush in peace, not having to worry about light leaks or blowing a shit ton more money on a problem that could just happen again.

  8. Gorilla tents suck. 5 zippers to open the door. plus velcro flaps on every seam. as long as your tent is in a relatively dark room, pinholes and shit shouldnt matter. outdoor weed has moonlight, starlight, and whatever other man made light that hits them. most herm issues are just the stress of indoor growing.

  9. I dumped my Gorilla tent. It was disappointing to say the least. Those 5 zippers just to get into the tent were laughable. After putting it up, zipper teeth in rear immediately came apart. The sewing was very suspect too.

I recently purchased a 4x4 and 2x2 tent by Covert. Never seen them before, never heard of them before. For the price, I like the tents. We will see what transpires during the long haul. Fingers crossed.

  10. I wanted to do a perpetual harvest with two tents in one room. But light will leak from the veg tent straight onto my flower tent. Once the lights go out I don't even open the door to the tent room.

  11. Finally! Someone who agrees with me. Those zippers are a joke!

I have a 5x5 covert and a 5x2.5 vivosun. Both are good quality. if they last more than a few grows, i call it a win. Grow tents are disposable. Its almost more work to clean them properly than just take them down, throw away, and put up a new one.

  12. The only thing I really like about gorilla is there high cfm kits I actually use it to frame out my scrog netting. I wish they made these kits for the cheaper tents I would have never got a gorilla. F*ckin hate the zippers in ggt!

  13. i ordered 2 high cfm kits cuz im sure they will fit my covert tent with minimal or no modification.

  14. Vivosun actually makes pretty good tents. Btw, pinholes are nothing.

  15. Pinholes? Really? Bro

You can literally have your tent in a bedroom, have the bottom mesh screens like half open, and turn your bedroom light on.

Won't effect the plants at all. Unless you have some gaping holes or the ventilation holes on the top wide open.

My wife has the lights on every morning getting ready, tent is "lights off" and haven't experienced any hermies

  16. I like to grow autoflowers. These types of cannabis plants will bloom into the flowering stage regardless of how much light the plant does or doesn't get. You harvest them sooner as well. Great for beginners!

  17. I've been growing auto's for a lot of years. I like having no light preclusions. Years ago when I used blurple lights with 3/5 watt diodes, I ran my lights 24/7 and the plants loved it. Now with my Autocobs and quantum boards, I run 20/4.
