Grow tent

    What's the preferred height for a grow tent? The one I bought is 8' tall...I was thinking once I get it set up the lights will be too far away and I may have to rig them up.

    Depends on the lights.....
    The manufacturer of the lights should tell you the preferable distance from canopy. X

    You get things called "yoyo hangers " mate. Allows you to raise and lower the lights easy. Get as tall a tent as you can fit in.

    mines 6’11”. I think that’s about standard. It has extensions to go up to 7.11 or 8.11. But I don’t really see the point. You don’t want tall plants you want wide plants..
    Rope ratchets for the lights..

    Get the tallest one you can fit in your space and use ratchet hangers to adjust the lights. I dont think I have ever heard anyone say they wish they a shorter tent.

    I think this a lot lol. If my tents were half as tall I could double them up and grow twice as much. I’m thinking of trying it in my 3x3 even. Wide not tall!

    You could always veg longer for a bigger yield if you run photos or use 2 tents side by side if you have the space.

    yeah but you don’t need to grow up, you grow wide. Last run I had had to veg a lot longer due to bugs, this time I’m about a ft lower and I would expect the same yield at least. But I did start thinking recently I could just double layer if I train good enough. I think I might try....

    You may grow wide and so do I but plenty of people grow tall. More than one way to skin a cat as they say.

    The best height for a tent is the tallest one that will fit in your space. At 8' it sounds like you bought a gorilla which I really dont like (way to many zippers/flaps) but all you need to do is put your light on adjustable hangers if you are running a weaker light. My tent is 7' tall and my 1000w DE HPS light is right at the top. The plants always have plenty of light and sort of grow into that sweet spot.
