How do you set up your ventilation for your grow tent? Is the main goal to move fresh air into the tent and cycle the air slowly? Just got my 1st plants in it after setting up a humidifier and a heater to get it 78F and the RH is around 50% (humidifier is running on low setting). Sent the vent on the lowest speed setting. Trying not to suck too much the humidity and heat out of the tent. Running in the basement rh is 30 and temp is 60-62F. What should be my temp and th goals and setting for the damn fan? System is AC Infinity with the 69 controller. Going into week 3. Fingers are crossed.
Movement of air is good...I liken 'fresh air' to air with enough co2 to support plant growth. Google VPD charts for temp/humidity dial in settings.
I have a similar set-up with the 69Pro controller and an A/C Infinity T6 fan running in a 4x4 tent. I found the best setting for me was a constant setting of "2" and a high setting of "4" on the fan. Inside temp was set to 80F max and humidity set to 78% max. You'll want to get your humidity up to get your VPD in the desired range.
So what’s the best VPD range for Veg? Mine is around 1.4 right now according to the controller. Sensor is at the top of the pot under the LED light, not sure that’s a good location? Saw one say VPD about 1.0. This ILGA chart article recommends:
I had to change the Ventilation mode from Constant ON to AUTO with a humidity trigger >70RH. Even with the Vent at 1 the lowest setting it was pulling too much humidity out. Now at Auto humidity is up in the high 60s and VPD is 0.98 - I had also dialed down the temp to 74 for the evening (Lights off) Should I be cycling temp for 78F lights on and lower for lights off period? I’m using 16/8 with these autos.
16hrs lights on, 8 hours lights off. I have the heater as the room is like 62ish… I started setting it lower to 73F and humidity 65 during the evening. Should I go lower?
First, I would run the fan on low 24/7 and forget about automation settings unless everything else is dialed in perfect. Second, lights should be 18/6 not 16/8, unless you're experimenting with something? Third, do you have a temp/humidity gauge in the tent? Keep the heater running outside the tent. And, photo of setup and plants?
Trieed running the fan constantly and couldn’t control the environment properly. Using Auto with humidity Low trigger to control the humidity at least until Small heater needs to be in the tent. I can’t heat up the entire space to 75F. A heater outside the tent with a duct would be nice if you know of one. Sorry, the forum SW doesn’t work with image uploads. A PIA
I am using the Vent Fan to exhaust any extra humidity. So the ACI 69 controller is set up to turn the fan ON When the High Humidity is above the setting (65RH dark, 70RH light) Similarly for the heater the 69 turns it on when Low temp trigger is set to the desired Temp (73 dark or 77light) Tracks VPD around 1.0 average for Veg.
So, on average, what is your day and night temp running currently? Do you have a thermometer/hygrometer other than on your exhaust to check this with? Photo of your plant/s and setup?
30 rh is just fine. dont overthink low humidity the best weed in the world grows in some of the driest places.
Its an ACI tent like this except I have the upgraded Ion Grid LED light. Using an old small manual controlled heater I had, and a small humidifier on the floor. Humidifier is constantly on. The ACI controller has a probe for the Himidity and Temp and the controller tracks the VPD. I have the probe at the plant height taped to a stick with a piece of foam shielding from the overhead lights (idea from a YouTube Channel using an arrow LOL). All charted and controlled by the smartphone App. On average the Temp and humidity is as I said above but there is more on and off switching than I would like. The heater is controlled from the 69 controller using a UIS dongle for the power. Im thinking maybe get a small portable heat pump to move the heater outside the tent. Hopefully they are available like the portable ACs. I have the ACI humidifier on back order which can go outside the tent.
30RH and 60F I don’t think will go to well. Need conditioned space. I don’t think too many indoor growers are going to waste their time and money with poor VPD conditions.
