My temps were pushing 90 in my main flower tent, then dropped to almost 20 degrees at night. I have a 6” exhaust in my 4x4. 4” inlet fan. So I installed an ac unit. My smaller veg tent is right next to the 4x4. Both in the same room I can close up. It’s about the size of a big walk in closet. I had the exhaust going out of the room but even with the 6” exhaust that’s brand new I was getting some smell. I re routed the exhausts from both tents back in the room and put my old can fan filter in there. No smells now, the temps are better, staying around 75 with lights on, but now dipping to 60 at night. Should I put a timer on the ac? Or timer on the exhausts? What’s some ways others have dealt with keeping tent temps more stable?
you need a controller that can switch on an a/c when hot and when temps dip, it turns on a heater. I have one. It is a juggling act managing temps with light on/off and venting for odor control. $50 will make life much easier Sorry my link to product is not working. It is a Baylite 15amp temp controller on amazon. MAKE SURE IT IS 15A Version not the 10amp otherwise the draw from your ac(if portable) and or portable heater will blow the internal circuit breaker
So it will shut off ac? I put the ac on auto. The ac doesn’t have heat like the more advanced ones, just ac. That controller u mentioned will shut ac off?
I'm lucky(?) enough that if I keep my house a bit chilly, right at or under 68, my tent stays below 80 during flower. I'm in flower right now, middle of winter so it's slippers and sweaters time for me. Last crop I was either in between or in veg so it didn't matter.
I have a small portable heater and a portable a/c. I set the target temp say 78 degrees. Then I set the upper limit of controller to say 84 and lower limit to say 75 degrees. So when temps get to 84.1, the controller will let the a/c run until temps drop to to 78. If temps drop to 74.9 degrees the heater goes on until temps reach 78. This ONLY works IF YOUR HEATER AND AC units AUTOMATICALLY RESUME function when there is a power outage. Make sure yours do this without having to repress the start button to get them functioning again. Easy to test by running your heater or a/c, then while running, unplug them and then plug them back in. If they work without missing a beat, then they are good to go. If you have to hit start again then they wont work with the controller. cheers.
Sounds like a nice setup. My house is always warm. Hasn’t got cold here yet, but now the cold is coming right after I buy the ac unit of course. I’ll check into that. I think I might put a timer on my inlet fan to shut off during dark periods and see if that can bump up the temp a few degrees. First time with leds for me. Always ran hid’s. And never in the huts.
there is a learning curve specific to everyone's unique situation. Sounds like you will need to add heat if dropping to the 60s. Hope you dont and can save $$
i use a small heater at lights out because it is winter here i do it all manually though but a 30 degree swing is not ideal look into getting some sort of thermostat controller
