Grow Tent Size/Plant Size Question

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by OQuinn24, Nov 10, 2014.

1. The closet I will be growing in is a decent size, but the clothes hanger rack on both sides put my width at 33.5" if I want to go any higher than 60" on my grow tent.

Basically,

-------------------------------

|                               |   80" Total Height
|----|   33.5" Wide   |----|

     60" to hanger
       (Height)

-------------------------------

About 4.5' wide (~53") Total

I want maximum harvests of course, and basically I'm asking:

- Should I go wider and stay under 60"? (48 X whatever X 60)
- Stay between the hangers and go for height?(32 X whatever X up to 80)
- Turn it sideways so I can go longer, higher, but keep width between the hangers? (like a 48X24X72)

> Keep in mind that this is an enclosed tent and it will be hanging a 600 watt light, and carbon filter so room up top is needed for later stages of growth. Also, with the tent turned sideways, access would not be impossible by any means, but a tad more complicated none the less.

Just any advice on the better of the three options and the type of grow I might be able to succed at inside of it.

Also, any estimations on harvest size (dried) would be nice (This will be my first grow).

Thanks!

2. Take the hangers down. That's what I did. More space.

3. Girlfriend would freak! ahaha. I did just realize that I could possibly take down my side though, right before I came to check for replies! Actually that seems like a greatidea and I feel dumb for not considering it. Thanks!

Blackerberry Kush seeds are being shippined as we speak

4. Looks like the new space is about 57'' Long X 24'' Wide X 80'' wide, easy access, and wide means itll be easier to access the back plants. Perfect! Any approximations on a dry yield with this new space? How many plants do you think I should go with for max yield?

It's all variable, you could get an ounce or a pound, depending on how well you do it. And the amount of plants also depends on growing techniques, I would say 4 personally, then you could get them a pretty nice size in flower.

6. I'm just hoping to get ~1 lb, thats the goal. Achievable with 4 plants?

7. It is achievable but you would have to lst or scrog. Also have very good conditions. If this is your 1st grow I wouldn't shoot for a lb maybe half lb or qp

8. Thanks, gotta shot for the stars though! Yea definitely LST, defintely topping, was considering SCROG heavily, but also like the idea of "main-lining". The trouble now is finding a tent to take advantage of this area. 4X2 would be okay, I just cant find one that size thats taller than 60"! Then again if I SCROG, I wouldn't need that much height... What do you guys think? 60" tall enough?

9. I did find a 60" wide one, but my width is at 58", think I could trim some of the pipe and pin up the excess canvas?

10. Depending on how the pipe hanger is mounted I think the tent should have enough slack that it might squeeze into the closet...

But if your buying a tent why not just stick it in the corner of a room?

11. Positive, got to think positive!

12. I think your missing ventilation. Sounds like you think its enclosed enclosed. You will have air leaving the tent. Isn't that gonna blow on her clothes?

13. Carbon filter and inline vortex fan is already ordered! Intake fan as well. I'd love to stick it in the corner, but it's an apartment so I'd like to keep it as far away from administration as possible. I have more room in the closet as well, this is just the room that I can use. Up to 58X40X80. I want to fit as much as possible in there, and can't seem the right sized tent! Like I said 24X48 would fit easily, I'd like to use the room I have to full potential for maximum buddage :smoke:

Btw guys, definitely appreciate all the help!

NEVERMIND I FIGURED OUT HOW TO TURN MY CLOSET INTO NARNIA. The room is a perfect square. The hanger the perpendicular way, right at the front so its right there when you open the door. Move the clothes and you have perfect access. Stealthy and a much moe manage floor size.

Edit: I'm stupid as freak, aha. If its a square, no matter which way I turn it, the floor size issue is not avoided. Same dimensions apply still, and I still need ot figure this out! Although, I am going to move the hanger and turn that beast intoo Narnia.

Found this, what do you guys think? http://www.amazon.com/Sun-Hut-Horticultural-4-3-Feet-2-8-Feet/dp/B00F2QLA9W/ref=sr_1_120?ie=UTF8&qid=1415660461&sr=8-120&keywords=4+x+3+grow+tent

15. So where again are you venting the exhaust?
You don't need an intake fan.

16. I got a 48x48x80 on Amazon a Apollo Horiculture its nice and sturdy for less then 100

17. The door to the closet is one of those that are like a fixed blind, figured I run it over the clothes (hanging from the roof) and right up to the door so it can exit the room. Actually decided that because of advice someone gave me on another thread! The intake fan is actually this high powered fan that I have, I think its like a carpet drying fan... I figured Id use that in one of the flaps (sealed off of course) to keep the temp down, while intrducing fresh, cool air from outside the closet! Maybe overboard but I already have it laying around so all it can do is help!

18. Decided on that tent I posted, asked a question about the size, and its 4' X 3.3'! (3.3'= ~40", a little less.) Perfect fit, just expensive.

19. I think you've got the specs mixed up a bit? Maybe it's just me though I read it as 4.3x2.8x6.5 Or roughly 52"x34"x80" is how I read the specs in the title of the Amazon post
