I have a new idea on a grow room in my attic and wanted some suggestions on how to do it... heres what i have now I also want to learn a little about inducing co2 into the grow space and about how much its all going to cost
Attics get way to hot for growing unless you can insulate and add an a/c unit. You could possibly pull it off at the right time of year, but I think your to late now. Search the forum on Co2 and you will find all sorts of info.
In the summer, my attic is like a constant 95 with 0% humidity. Not ideal growing conditions. Might be sweet if you could get the humidity up and the temps way down but I think it'll be a lot more work than you're thinking. If you were to add CO2, ur temps could afford to get a little higher, but still with HPS lights, you'll probably still be way to hot even with nice ventilation. I think AC is ur best bet
I agree, attics are tough. I tried and gave up. I found that temps in my attic were 10-15 above the outside temp, and then inside the grow space in the attic with the HID light it was another 10-15 above the attic temp. So, on a nice 80 day it was well over 100 in the grow space, and on days in the summer were it was hitting close to 100 outside, well I might as well have tried growing in my oven. As Willydog said, you will need to insulate all around that grow area and get air conditioning into it.
The typical problems with basements have to do with humidity and air circulation. If it's not damp down there and you can get some airflow then that should work just fine.
Basements RULE!!!!! Just make sure you can run a nice vent to the outside otherwise the whole house stinks and the humidity gets too high (especially with hydro). The consistent cool temps are the best! Edit - Judging from your excellent drawing you are going to run multiple HPS lights? Are you going to have MH for vegging? Do you have any idea of cost? You might want to start with some CFLs for starters.
