Evening, Got everything i need for my 'tomatoes' but was going to wait until i moved but thinking about starting it here whilst i have time on my hands. Right, I can sometimes smell the neighbours cooking in the storage cupboard (2ftx12ft, weird shape i know) as it seems to come up though the floor, would you put plastic sheeting down all around the floor & tape it just above the skirting? Would this help? Not to stop their bad food smells, obviously But to stop the plants smell lingering anywhere? The actual grow room is in a cabinet, and the cabinet inside the storage room. It's light proof with the the 2x fans at the side blowing air in, the fan sucking air out. I've a filter, a few Ona blocks & will be purchasing more 'blocking' stuff, i like the idea of a fan on the ceiling with another filter attached. Good idea? Tips? Thanks.
I also wanted to ask about my carbon filter. Not used it yet apart form a few test runs & it's been sitting around the open. Will this still be fine to use? Maybe 6 months or so.
Plastic will not stop the odor of MJ plants -- hell, the odor can seep through walls. Hook up that filter and make sure it is serviced by a good fan, you need to cleanse the air, you'll never block it or bottle it up.
Thanks! The cabinet is abour H=3' W=1' L=2.5' and i have This extractor which seems to be around 100CFM, i also have quite a big carbon filter. Too much? Will i need smaller/fans/scrubber for the size of the room? Also as in the OP the filter hasn't been used but lying around, will it still be fine? Will the cabinet fair better in a bigger room then a small narrow space? (quick example of my room, has 2 pc fans in the bottom right) Thanks.
im a new grower as well but you should be good through veg. Once you hit flower i would test the waters, if it is some straight piff, add your filter to it! Other than that nice setup bro!
Plants can stink plenty in veg too... A committed grower should include a carbon filter in his plans from the beginning. You almost certainly will have odor issues to deal with. It is not the smart approach to wait to see if you will be in the very small minority that don't have an odor problem, only to learn that you fall with the vast majority and then find yourself with smelling up your place and your neighbors and compromising your security while you scramble to slap together a solution. P.S....Which I am not saying is the case with the OP here, he has a filter, so good work and commitment there.
