I really don't think that this has been answered anywhere else in the forum so I thought that I would make a thread about it. If I am growing in an attic with a 400 watt MH bulb and a fan to circulate air and a fan sometimes pulling cool air from the house into the attic, is there absolute need for exhaust? Will it get way too hot up there for a grow or possibly start a fire or something? There isn't going to be an actual box to grow, just the light hanging over the plants in a 25' by 25' and 35' long attic. thx to all who respond
You need to use an exhaust fan as well so that their can be air flowing through your grow room. This will allow the air in the attic to be replaced frequently, not only cooling it down a bit, but making it harder for fungus and mold to grow.
Attics get very hot. If it was hot up there before you set up the grow up then it will be even hotter with the light on. You don't need to exhaust a large area like an attic, but you won't cool it much by having a vent from the home air conditioner blowing in there occasionally either.

So it would be o.k. not to have an exhaust. Dont really want to do that, Not an owned house. but the point in the fan blowing into the room would also be to get fresh air in. Also how hot does a MH and HPS bulb get and what is the chance of there being a fire set. Do I have to cool the bulb in such a large space? Sorry for all the ?s this is goin down next week so I'm kinda gettin nervous and excited
