Grow room almost done, ventilation question!!

  1. Well I'm just about done my grow room. So far....

    4' x 3' x 6' Grow Closet
    400W MH/HPS Combo Ballast
    Mylar Coated Interior
    2 6" Ossilating Fans
    Completely Light Proof

Now I turned on the light yesterday to see what the heat would be like. Before the light it was a cool 71F as it's in the basement. After the light was closed and closet door shut, it rose to about 95F.

I'd like to get a new reflector hood that has an air exhaust vent on it and get some ducting that attaches to a 6" inline fan that runs quiet and can vent out all the heat from the light. So far this is what I've got. Any other suggestions or should this be fine?

  2. From what ive read anyway; it sounds like you need a better opening for fresh air to come in, and then the fans can pull out the hot air? What do you have for outside air to make it in when the door is shut?

  3. As of right now, I don't have an air intake. What do you suggest I get?

  4. Take a portion of the top and bottom of the door off, (sand etc), so that outside air can get in 24/7. Then your fans will pull out the hot air, and one fan to circulate air around plants. If you cant cut the sheetrock, the door would be your best soluction i think?
    Good luck with it man.

  5. I can't remove the top and bottom of the door since it's a stealth grow. I can however cut a hole in the front of the door and install an inline intake fan and then use the other fan to remove the hot air from the lamp/bulb.

  6. Sounds like a winner,
