ok so I started 8 plants about 3 1/2 weeks ago in a small closet under 6 4' tubes it has become a pain in my!!! to try to do anything with the plants because of the space so Ive decided to build a 4'x4'x7' box out of 3/4 plywood, completely enclosed with a 2 ' wide door in front to access plants. To solve the "hard to reach problem" i'm mounting about 8 casters upside down on the floor and cutting a 3'11" round piece of the 3/4 and attaching it with an old barstool bearing/ bracket so that it's fixed in place but will rotate freely riding on the casters allowing me to just spin the table and bring the next plant around to the door for service access. I'm lining the inside with mylar film and I'll be using a 430 watt hps in there when I switch them over next week.I've built a carbon scrubber, 6", and I plan to run a 6" duct from the hood thru the wall,(w/approp fittings of course so it remains light proof) and then have the scrubber hanging outside the box on the wall. I picked up a six inch in line fan and I'm trying to figure out how I can hook that to some thermostat type device so that when the room gets to say 85 it kicks on and sucks fresh air thru the cabinet from the bottom vents,(which is pulling air from a 60 degree room) cooling the box thru the light hood as well as circulating air, in addition to the small oscillating fan that will be inside, but then kicking back off when the temp gets down to say 70. any ideas for this or other suggestions for the growbox?
They do sell thermostat controllers but they start at about $70.00 or so, as for temps shoot for 77 degrees, thats the ideal grow temp and as for having the fan kick in at 85 I would set it lower.
for sure, I was just using 85 for an example, I usually try to keep them in the upper 70's.I just dropped some dough on a new light so I was trying to keep it cheap. I'm thinking about getting a thermostat for an electric baseboard heater and just switching the wires inside it, which should make it a cooling thermostat. we'll see! lol, worth a try they are only 15 bucks.
