I'm planning on building a grow box for 2 plants, space is somewhat an issue, but I wanted help regarding the dimensions of the box as well as intake/outtake. The plants I'm thinking of growing are autoflower BigBang & autoflower 60 Day Wonder, both seeds are feminized. I was thinking of building a box with the following dimensions 1.5 feet deep, 2 feet wide & 3 feet high. Would that be adequate space for 2 plants to grow? Are there any increases/decreases in the height, width, or depth, that I should do or will this space be adequate for 2 plants to grow? Any other advice regarding the size/dimensions of the box for 2 plants to grow comfortably? I was planning on using the LST method to make optimal use of the space I have. As well as using CFL's to grow both plants, I will have a total of 230 watts of CFL's in the box. As far as intake/outtake goes, I was planning on using 2 2inch passive intake holes that will be on the bottom right of the grow box 12 inches apart from each other. I will be using 2 ABS 1.25 inch 90 degree elbows, when put together they create an S shape and there diameter is 2 inches so they will fit perfectly into the 2 inch passive intake holes. This will prevent light from entering or exiting the box. For an exhaust fan I was going to use one 230mm 156CFM computer fan and locate it at the top left of the grow space. Will the 2 passive intakes described above as well as the exhaust described above be adequate in giving the grow space fresh air every 2.5-5 minutes? Are there any changes when it comes to intake/outtake that I should take into account?
Your plans seem like they would do the job.... And you are going to like the 60 day wonder.... mine are at day 27
Just to clarify....when you say 230w of cfl is that actual wattage or equivelant (i gotta ask lol) Also, your passive intake seems fine, but i would go with a better fan such as this one HTG Supply - 6" Inline Duct Fan Also if smell is an issue....get a filter too HTG Supply - GrowBright Pure Flow 4 Jr. Carbon Filter
230w is the actual wattage.. Do you think a 230mm computer fan would work? Also, what can I do to avoid light leaking through where I am putting the exhaust fan?
Im not really sure why anyone actually uses computer fans..... and to avoid light.....use a 90 degree elbow and some ducting
Regarding the 90degree elbows and ducting to prevent light from entering and/or exiting the growbox. There will be my growbox and then a hole for the 230 mm fan should I put the fan inside the box where the hole is and then the ducting and 90degree elbows outside of the box. SO from outside the box to inside the box it goes 90 degree elbows and ducting then box then fan. Or should I have the fan at the end of the ducting and 90 degree elbows so that it goes fan then 90 degree elbows and ducting then grow box?
