So, I plan on making a 3 x 3 x 8 Box in my closet ( It's a big closet ) and I had a couple questions on the subject: 1. Would It be beneficial to add lighting not only to the top but on all four sides of the box so that every aspect of the plant can receive adequate lighting? 2. When buying ducting and intake/exhaust fans should the fans be the same size as the ducting or smaller to go inside of the ducting? 3. When should I transplant the plants?
If your using an HID you can use CFLs for side lighting but isn't necessary. Plus, you won't need them until they get larger. Same size. Make 6" vent ports. Out of solo cups at 2 weeks into 5 gals.
Question... what type and wattage of lights are you planning to use? If you are going with a 1000 HPS/MH then no worries at all, but if you are planning to use a 250 HPS/MH or smaller, then it certainly wouldn't hurt to have lighting on the sides... esp. if you have money to spend. Personally, I think its a cooler grow when you sort of find ways to grow as much as possible while spending as little as possible. This often includes finding unique and interesting ways to build components yourself (the "DIY" approach). There are ways to cheaply do almost anything you can imagine available here in GC. Good luck! The Idiot.
Well, I was going with air cooled 400 Watt MH bulbs for vegetative state, and HPS bulbs for flowering stage, with a switchable ballast and switchable reflectors, and I have enough money to add them on all 4 sides. However, If it is unnecessary I'm not going to waste the money
Nice Of course its beneficial. The more light the better 6 inch fan gets 6 inch ducting 4 inch fan gets 4 inch ducting etc.... Wait about 2-3 weeks after seed sprouts. Let the roots get some growth so transplanting will be easy and not just fall apart in your hands
Nah, you don't want them on the sides of the box. Check out vertical growing, with 8' of height you might be able to use 2x 400w running vertically up the middle of the box in cooltubes, maybe some chicken wire around the lights to keep your plants from growing into them. That would be better than lining the sides of your box with HID's I think and it would take full advantage of the extra height. I'd go a little wider on the box too, maybe a 4x4?
Well my plan was to divide the box at about 4' and use the bottom as a cloner and the top for veg/flowering. BUt ill look into vertical growing, and i cant expand the width it is a 3 x 6 x 10 closet
Hi Guys I left my autoflowering seeds (which were only germinating) in my grow tent. They were wrapped in a wet cloth and in a tuppleware box with cellophane over. I must've left them like that for at least 20 hours. They seem to have dried up and the root tips that had come out had lost their white colour and gone a dirty grey. What I have done is put them in soil pots (batguano soil) by a window. What are the chances of them making it to seedlings??? I am just worried I have killed the seeds. Do you think they can make it?? 600 WATT LIGHT (distance around a metre or more away from the tuppleware box) Many Thanks
^^^^ high jacking someone else's thread will get you nowhere. Start your own like you should instead of messing up someone else's thread please.
Um. Dried up taproots that have turned grey? Ah. Good luck. Sorry to hear about that. The only thing you could try is putting them in the middle of a circle on the floor, smoking a blunt and dancing around them while praying to God for help. I think they may be toast. Next time make sure to place the hopefully pre-soaked seeds in some DAMP paper towels in a SEALED tub or tin of some kind (see my pictures in the grow journal link in my sig) and keep an eye on them.. but not your fingers.. just your eyes. If the genetics are good and the seeds aren't too old you should have no worries... It is a sad day when ones so young lose their lives without having had a chance to taste the fresh air and nutes. Good luck next time, but actually let us know what happens to them.. should you revive them it would be worthy of its own thread for sure!!! The Idiott.
Ya that can't be true... I created a thread with my very first post; my grow journal in fact. So I think he was just unused to forum etiquette!! Perhaps we have set him on the straight and narrow once again. The Idiott.
