hey guys I was wondering what you think of my set up. I painted the inside with a high gloss white interior paint because thats what I had. Now what I'm wondering is if I should line the whole inside of the box with tin foil. Do you think that will help? The box is 3'x3'x4' tall inside. I use a 135w 7 band led light and 2 60 cfm computer fans for ventilation Sent from my C771 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Flat white is best paint. Do not use tin foil!! If you want reflective sides use Mylar. What's your odour control plan?
Odor control plans at the moment is a homemade carbon filter with dryer sheets at the end of the tube. Once I can afford it I will get an inline fan with filter. Sent from my C771 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Sounds good. Buy something quality with the carbon filter when you get one, not a place to cheap out. How do you like the led?

Your harvest is going to be very very disapointing if you use that led for flowering.. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your plants are desperate for more light. Step up to the high pressures my friend... Invest in yourself with a new 600w HPS and start harvesting pounds instead of grams...

And with this size box would 600w be to much? Can I get by with like a 300w
Your ventilation system will need to be seriously stepped up if you switch to HPS - even with 200W. Also, with only 4ft of vertical, you are going to have a hard time keeping the tops of your plants from getting crispy during the second half of the grow. I've never used LEDs but am in love with the concept: only producing visible light of the exact colors your want and not wasting a good chunk of power in producing unneeded colors and heat. I think for the box you're in now, investing in more and bigger LED panels would be the way to go. Maybe try to get 2/3 - 3/4 of the LEDs on the red side of the spectrum for flowering and blue for vegging (if you veg). You could probably flip them to 12/12 after the 2nd or 3rd week and still have them fill the box if you maximized your lighting. And yes, as mentioned, DO NOT USE TIN FOIL! It conducts heat and you will throw it out immediately. Mylar or a space blanket would be upgrades, but your gloss white should work fine. I'd make more lights the priority right now.
How did your homemade carbon filter do with the smell of your first grow? And by the way, 600W HPS is waaaaay to strong for that box with your vent system, thats a fire waiting to happen. If you get the right LEDs then you can be ok, you just have to avoid the bad quality ones, and don't be afraid to add CFLs to the grow to supplement light if you need to. If you up your ventilation just a little bit, you can probably get away with throwing a few CFLs in there and having your temps below 80

Not the best but it worked. I was thinking of adding these 4 lights to the top of my box

I'm using the ONA bucket right now, it's good so far but I'll be updating about it as I get farther into flower. Are those going to be the only lights in your cabinet? You really have to do your research with LEDs. I haven't done anything with those exact ones but when I had similar, I had trouble keeping my temps high enough
i felt like i spent more on ona than buying the damn carbon filter(and i mean my micro grow ona supply cost me more than the carbon filter for my 4x4 box LOL) ona gets to be worthless 4-5 weeks into flowering in my experiences one+ diy carbon filter did the trick hardest part is finding a fan to push a filter for a micro grow that isnt like a frickin jet taking off
Good to know, I had my concerns about the ona as flowering progresses, but I don't think I really have an option right now. I don't think I'll be able to use the DIY carbon filter in my current grow, so I'll have to bite the bullet and maybe try to buy ona in bulk haha
i had a 36 cfm fan hooked up the ona block to try and help and still couldnt do anything. ended up taking a peanut can cutting large sections of the side out. re-enforced the inside of it with wire hanger and hvac tape. super glued a pvc pipe full of holes only to about the top of the can in the middle of the metal bottom the pipe was wrapped with window screen and panty house on the outside. same with the peanut can on the outside. now with the bottom of it sittin on the table you have a donut shaped ring with the pipe making the middle sticking outta the can i packed that with carbon pretty decently. cut a hole slightly smaller than the pipe in the middle of top for the can and slide it down it snuggly careful cutting this you dont wanna cut too much to one side or its not snug. wrap parts that dont need air with electrical tape tightly and make it airtight as possible might have used some caulk as well cant remember cut pipe a bit short and used a size that i knew fit my pci slot fan caulked and taped it tightly to that. restricted airflow about 30% but does the job smells like almost nothing out the exhaust the carbon filter is in the very top corner of the pc tower and the fan is external on the back of it blowing up wish my camera wasnt broken would have saved some typing lol googled a few images using same type of design but not my pictures http://www.420magazine.com/gallery/data/500/Carbon_added.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/29atjrk.jpg
actually here this is one of the best carbon filter diy i have found for smaller growing.(i tried like 5-6 different versions before making something like this) http://forum.grasscity.com/grow-room-designsetup/338351-building-13-scale-carbon-filter.html
