Grit Weed and Other Problems

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by BigChamba, Jan 28, 2011.

  1. So I have questions for all you experienced potheads out there. I have quite a number of fears when it comes to marijuana:

    -Smoking grit weed with glass
-Smoking weed that was grown in a sub par environment
-Weed that has traveled a great distance from Mexico or even further where the growers probably couldn't give less of a shit about the final consumer

As a general newbie to pot, I'm not sure how everything works and I am overly paranoid about everything. However, I've smoked long enough to know that if your getting good grade stuff and not some cheap dirt it's probably a safe bet that the grower took some care into his stuff.

Basically this thread is a plea for some answers to calm my nerves and just to make life a bit easier for me. So lets start with the grit.

Out of every scary thought associated with marijuana, this is my biggest fear and that is smoking marijuana laced with microscopic shards of glass. How common is this practice? It's a cheap way to make weed weight more and look better, so theres reasons for people to do it. I heard you can scrape it against a CD but I just wanted to know from other experience how common and how much this happens. Man I'm scared off my balls of smoking some grit.

Second is getting stuff from a grower who just shoveled tons and tons of fertilizer into his soil without a "flushing" period or maybe sprayed gallons of pesticide on the plants to get rid of insects. Well, I could be smoking that. This is probably even more common the further away your weed is coming from, like from some Columbian smuggler as opposed to a local grower but lets face it, we can't always know where it's coming from all the time unless we grow our own.

My third and final concern is based off dispensaries. Basically if I were to get a legal medical card in the proper state, go to a dispensary that later gets raided by the DEA; well, all my information has been logged into their records which the DEA have not confiscated and so in turn, the DEA has physical logged evidence and can charge me with purchases of illegal substances. This is explained much further on a separate post I made in another thread here:

If people could read that post and respond to that it would help immensely.
    Thanks again in advance!

  2. 1. I have never herd of any one lacing weed with glass. And i dont think that the mexicans would take the time to put microscopic pices of glass in the weed because they grow the marijuana in such mass amoumnts that they barely have the time to water it.Btw CD's are made of plastic and smoking glass isnt bad for you because they make pipes out of it.

    2. The people in mexico if they get insects on some plants i think that they just throw the infected plants as soon as possible to prevent from the entire crop from being destroyed. And they probably wouldnt even be putting fertelizer into the soil.

    3. Federal law enforcment does not convict anyone that uses medical marijuana with a doctors reccomendation.

  3. I wouldn't worry about grit weed, if you have weed with glass fragments in it you will likely know about it.
Personally, I think people around here like to fear monger with the idea of grit weed. I think its a really paranoid idea. And I've never seen a legit pic of it

  4. To your first point, I'm not sure how you've escaped this tale. However, if you look at it objectively lacing weed with glass is a very lucrative idea. The weed weights more, and therefore sells for less. It also looks more appealing (because they look like trichomes) and therefore you have an easier time selling it, just as long as your not trying to make regular customers.

All you gotta do is find some glass and rip it up.

Your other two points are fine with me and I appreciate the post :)

Sure theres no way to know if the pictures are legitimate or not but the threat is there I believe. I've been researching many ways to test for this but overall I'm sure your right and the actual threat is slim to none. I appreciate your time in this post.

  5. ^^Yeah like the "scratch test" where you rub buds or grinded bud on a cd to look for glass scratches- very unreliable
I'll admit one time I had my doubts about a certain pick up so I smoked all of it through a bong, problem solved there(i hope)

  6. No problem

  7. One other thing about the DEA raids. I'm aware that federal officers have stated that they won't go after individual patients and that the Obama administration has "pledged" to not intrude on state laws, however how likely is this to change if there was to be a switch to a conservative president in 2012. Would such an extreme change of power bring back the rampant DEA raids and prosecutions, in theory of course?

  8. small particles of glass put in weed is something many have heard of. they do it to increase weight so they can make more money selling less weed. the glass particles are small enough to be inhaled and can damage your lungs.

mexican weed is normally very shitty quality, so if you ever have your hands on any, i doubt you would even want to smoke it.

and federal still sees any cannabis use as illegal. so you take your chances no matter what.

  9. maybe. we'll have to wait and see:hello:

  10. After you become more experienced, youll be less paranoid.

  11. I wanted to quote this here before it made me think a little. I see a lot of documentaries and boarder shows where people from Mexico, Columbia, and other places in South America attempt (and many do) smuggle weed in from thousands of miles away. Who knows what type of abuse the buds take from being compacted, handled too much, dried out, etc etc. Not to mention WHEN was it grown, three years ago?

This makes me sigh a breath of relief because by what your saying, the majority of good bud comes from local growers, and usually is seen in freshness. So I thank you. I really hate the idea of smoking mexican crap grown thousands of miles away maybe a year ago.

I think my paranoia just got the better of my common sense that if weed is taking that much abuse, it'll show in the end. And even if it is good shit from all that, it's still good shit, no?

Indeed. I just hope it doesn't. ha

  12. You just blew my fuckin mind.

  13. were the hell are you getting this shit from?
