Grinder recommendations?

Discussion in 'Smoking Accessories Q&A' started by Saint Duck, Sep 28, 2022.

  1. Been using a Kannastor for maybe 4-5 years now. Past the point where I should have replaced it. I see that there are a lot, 2 stage, 3 stage, etc. Any recommendations? And is there really any reason for more than 1 stage? Is there a best screen size? Best brand? I can do Amazon but would prefer something that my local head shop would probably carry. Thanks for any answers or suggestions.

  3. I'll be honest, the thought of an electric grinder never even crossed my mind. Even more to consider now. Will look for vids/reviews. Thx.

  4. I was looking at the Klip. Not cheap, but apparently an entirely new take on grinding cannabis.

  6. what I read about the electric grinders is that they clog / bog down after just a few uses...

Fun fact - I was a judge at the cannabis cup in Amsterdam when the first grinders ever came out (wooden) - they were promo freebies!

  7. It came down to the Flour Mill Grinder or the Klip grinder for me….I ended up buying the Flower Mill because it grinds large buds and you don’t need to remove stems. It mills your flower instead of grinding it….there are no teeth in a Flour Mill grinder. Supposedly less trichome damage and fluffier bud with both the Klip and Flour Mill grinders. I see outstanding reviews for both.

    good luck with your search.

  8. Been looking at those electric ones for a bit myself, if you do end up getting one, wouldn't mind a review after a few weeks of use.

I've heard everything from "they are the greatest thing ever" to "total POS bogs down regularly needs constant cleaning"

  9. I figured I should get an electric grinder as my handheld aluminum sharpedge is getting hard to turn.
I got this on Amazon , I wouldn't recommend tho, I can tell the inside cooking after 10 seconds of grinding .

  10. I never liked the pollen catcher deal. You grind weed and smoke a J to have the effect, but the pollen catcher/screen deals kinda robs the weed of some potency... ya know?

now on the subject of electric grinders, and as I said before, I never tried the newer ones, but the old coffee grinders worked well enough.

The biggest problem with many grinders is the lack of a handle. I'm still using the Darth Vader grinder (plain grinder with a head). I had to epoxy the metal to the plastic, but at least it has something to hold onto.

  11. I ended up going with the Kannastor GR8TR v2. My old Kannastor lasted years, and my local head shop did not have a huge selection. They did have some nice ones, just liked this one best. Thanks for the advice all.

  12. nice choice. I was leaning more towards the cali crusher home grown due to the ease of twist on/off. Ya, im that lazy.

  14. Kannastor GR8TR V2 Grinder as mentioned. I really also like my SLX v2 I use, my s&b grinders when in a pinch, hell even a space case (my first.)
i want a brilliant cut grinder tho, this is the be all end all grinder.
Never used but I hear Santa Cruz is good too.

  15. It really depends on what you want. A larger screen in terms of micron size will give you more kief, but also other material. If more kief is your goal, then a wider grinder will also probably be a good idea. More surface area for kief to fall through = more kief.

In terms of different brands, there are a lot. Don't always follow those "best list" either, those are usually riddled with affiliate links so you cant trust their opinion.

  19. Santa Cruz shredder is really nice, and will last many years. Things to consider is what type of teeth the grinder has, and what type of grind that will make. The durability and quality of the metal and materials used. Lots of grinders get the job done, stay away from the plastic ones and if you want to collect keef get a 4 piece with a keef catch
