Grinder question

    I bought a cheap ($10) grinder off of eBay, it said it was aluminum. I already know that I should have saved some money and bought a quality one, but anyways, I cleaned with 70% iso and water and then dried it off because I was going to take it on vacation, but when I forgot it and came back this is what I found:


    So my questions are:
    1. What caused this?
    2. Is it just oxidation?
    3. How do I get rid of it? I tried silver polish and it took some of it off, but would have taken hours to do the whole thing.
    4. Is it safe to use?

    Same exact thing happened to me too when I boight a cheap one off ebay and washed it in iso. I just kind of rinsed it and shook it.

    No idea wht caused it, but i've been using it dine ever since. No flakes in my bud or anything

    you rinsed it again in iso or in water, and did any of it come off?

    If you're that worried, just soak it in pure acetone or something... Hell, throw it in a dish washer if you can.
