This first grow is lemon haze auto day 27. It was topped day 21 and is starting to show flowers all over.
they should start really taking off in the next week or so get the light as close as possible and they should be at least twice that size within 10 days if not then start to worry but until then they look pretty good i was just comparing them with clearskys auto run and from day 25 to 35 his exploded
Only one way to say it, I over watered it. The potting soil I used that I thought would be good wasn't. And in a rush to get things started I didn't even add perlite. The top layer added after stretch did have perlite which probably made it worse as the top layer dries and the lower was just retaining water. The soil when wet was like silt, retaining water for way too long. Anyway I lost it. I started two more lemons, this time in of with about 35% perlite. 7 days.
Update 18 days. Transplanted and recovered. The bottom set of leaves started to lose color just after transplant. I couldn't address the problem immediately because I watered when I transplanted. Yesterday I fed both plants for the first time half strength ff 3 part with calmag and I believe the two leaves are greening up slowly. The rest of the leaves have darkened as well already. I like ffof with 35% perlite it drains well but will go to 50% perlite next grow. Will top at forth node. Thanks for the comments.
Doing good. As far as ffof I use the happy frog and 30 percent perlite at most works really good for me. I am contemplating if I want to use ocean forest next but I don't know I really like what I'm using however I use a plus b hydro fertilizer weakly mixed from seed. With ocean forest I guess I could skip that until probably 2nd or 3rd week. Good luck
Thanks, So far I'm happy with it. I've heard of nut burn with ffof but I didn't experience any problems. I dont think you would if you cut it with any reasonable amount of perlite. I think about the end of the second week is time for some nut, for me about 50% solution. I should have started nut earlier. I fed 50% and it did start to give life to the lower two leaves but wasn't enough so now I'm feeding 25% every time I water. Keeping a eye on not over doing it.
Update 3 weeks. 5.5 and 3 inch, both are topped at 4th node. Both are growing well. The taller one is a bit droopy, don't know why. It does it to a greater degree when watered and they were both just feed a new batch of nut for a 3 week plant at 50%. They should really green up now. I did PH the runoff. I fed it 6.6 and the runoff was right at 6.0 for both plants. Then it hit me I remembered a post about ffof and the poster that seemed like he would know said not to PH. Having said that I'm sure he meant if your using city water which mine is 7.4 to 7.6 using a blue lab pen. With this in mind should I PH to about 7.2 maybe. And a question what PH should I be shooting for runoff 6.3 to 6.8 say 6.5?
I ph my ffhf I try for anything between 6 and 7 since im in soll I don't worry too much. Soil supposed to be balanced but my water is high too. My nutrients also balanced I still use a little ph down in my solution as said after I mix my nutes I then ph. I don't hard even ph anymore as I have so much now I just check now and then to make sure I'm in range. In coco or hydro I will worry about a more precise number. But there are folks know plenty more than I but I do ok.
There looking a lot happier now. I'm going to PH at 6.8 and try to get runoff up to around 6.2-6.3, hoping for around 6.5 at the root zone.
Both plants doing well, almost back to where I was. I feel a lot more confident now, I couldn't fathom not being able to grow weed probably one of the easiest plants to grow. After all I was a professional farmer for a few years growing tobacco in Richmond Ky. Silver creek area. Anyway with my problems solved I'm looking forwards to harvest this time. I was going to use 50% perlite on the next grow but I'm going to back that down to 40%. I'm using 30-35 now and it's ok but I would like a little bit more drainage. Still a little nervous about the plant I lost but I would rather water more frequently and not have to worry about over watering. I also figured out why the one plant gets really droopy after watering or feeding. The day before I transplanted them, I took the taller plant to use as an experiment, I wanted to test whether the 30-35% mix would have enough drainage. So I completely soaked the solo cup and transplanted it the next day after it drained well. It did survive obviously but it did take a hit for a few days. So I'm thinking 40% is good for me. My other mistake was not feeding it soon enough. I also think that I'll go back to planting in final container, now that the overwatering has been addressed. Thanks again for the feed back.
Update 4 weeks. Both looking good. Starting to preflower. Next grow I'll start training early. Watered with a PH of 6.8, runoff was 6,5.
