Hey guys im going to throw a plant into my green house. and start it off and then transplant it outside. i was wondering what would be the best soil mixture. Because im going to start in in a 12 gallon bucket. and let it grow in that
hmmm id say. .... 7 gallons stable soil 1.5 gallons sphragnum moss 1/2 gallon vermiculite or water crystals 1 gallon sand or saw dust around 5 cups worm castings 5 cups bone meal 5 cups blood meal fill the rest with perlite edit - add more worm castings to give more nutes. Dont over do the blood and bone meal, you can always use ferts later if they are lacking.
well whats your native soil like? dpendingon what its like, you may want to add things to either help it retain water or drain water... soils with heavy clay with need per lite or sand ect to help with drainage... wormcatstings and other composted mateirals are a godsent gift for sandy soild to have trouble retaining water.
I would like to see a bit of lime/eggshell. But there are probably as many soil mixes as there are growers mixing their own. 3 spadefuls peat/forest product substrate 1 " sand 1 " volcanic rock chips 1 " grit 1 " horseshit 1 " wormcastings 1 " garden compost 2 ounces crushed eggshell Is my recipe for ´09. See the proof of the pudding in my outdoor grow journal.
