Green Dragon Questions

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by xRazorzEdgex, Aug 26, 2012.

  1. Alright, this will be my first time ever making Green Dragon. I have 1.5 Mason jars of RealLemon lemon juice, which should be around 600mL. This is my first question: Because it is lemon JUICE and not extract, will it work in the same way? Should I evaporate more, and if so, how much from the 600mL? Next, I have a minimum of 2g mid-high grade bud, with possibly 1g of stem/shake. I can easily add more, but will this work, and how much should I evaporate it with this amount? Fiiiiiiinal question: If I wanted to have 250mL-300mL of GD out of my original 600mL, how much pot should I use for average 1-2mL doses? Any help is appreciated, as this is my first time.

  2. What do you plan to do with the lemon juice-make lemonade? Are you going to make a citrus extract with your weed? Green Dragon is ordinarily made with alcohol, not lemon juice. For that process to be worthwhile you need at least 1g/fl oz and for a really good tincture you want 3g per fluid oz of alcohol.

  3. Lemon extract is 83% (Possibly wrong) alcohol, and I was wondering if a higher amount of lemon juice would substitute. Also, I've seen recipes with an 1/8 of weed with high amounts of alcohol, only evaporated 1/2 with good reviews. Hypothetically, if I had unlimited alcohol and an 1/8, I could absorb every bit of THC in the weed, have a decent amount of GD, and still have it potent, could I not? And do you mean 1g of bud or 1g or shake per fl oz?

  4. Extract does have a high volume of alcohol and you could make a GD out of it. Since lemon juice has no alcohol content, if you add it to your extract you'll be diluting the alcohol. So what you're basically doing is making a lemon flavored GD. There is some info running around indicating that citrus juice, like lemon, can be used to extract but I haven't seen anything convincing. Citric acid is used sometimes for an extraction, but as a powder. With most Dragon recipes the alcohol is reduced by at least half to make a decent tinc. I include all cuts from sugar trim to popcorn buds to cured buds in that ratio of 1g/fl oz. All the top stuff, but it's just a generality. :smoke:
