Green catapillars

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Jaumby, Aug 27, 2020.

  1. we just started finding 1 inch long green and light brown catapillars chewing on our plants.
They have chomped off a couple buds already.
Neem oil spray doesn't stop them.
We have been picking them off by hand every evening. But are having trouble getting them all.
Any help with ways or sprays to get rid of these destructive pests

  2. are they horn worms?

    Either way, pick them off.

  3. BT spray for those bud worms ASAP

  4. BT Thuricide once a week every week from the first sign of budding until harvest.

Running a bug zapper close by will help to limit the moths.
    Only effective against Caterpillars.

  5. Crushed oyster shells spread all around on top of soil around your plants. it is like sharp glass to any soft belly critters. It will also break down and feed your plants calcium. Two birds with one stone.

  6. Yes, we did BT spray them on Sunday and yesterday. Those little beasts keep hatching and eating.

  7. To be honest, I don’t know how some can get away with it weekly. I have to keep on it every other day and I still get a few here and there.

I also run my bug zapper and have decoy plants to help mitigate.

  8. Has anyone tried putting mosquito netting over the plants at night? I read that the moths are nocturnal little pricks.
