Green algae forming on Hydroton Rocks

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Soomka, Oct 12, 2007.

  1. At the end of my last grow I started to see a green algae forming on the hydrton. After the harvest i cleaned the rocks with hot water hoping that would help, but now a few weeks have passed and I'm starting to see the rocks turn green again. It is only happening to the top hydroton rocks and it seems to be getting worse.

So i guess my question is, that if anyones ever experienced this problem. If so, how did you go about solving it.

Also, what causes the green algae to form on the hydrton?

I came up with an idea, that it could be the temperature...it has been getting hot in there.. maybe reaching above the 80s.

    anyways, thanks guys and gals

  2. temp & light

try a little hydrogen peroxide, I believe clearex will also deal with algae
