This is the biggest single factor in Marijuana today... bear with me.... the cost of growing weed is something that in comparaison to the cost of an once is shameful.. Even if....you invested say 3 grand into your growroom....most people dont even break a 500 dollar investment...just for conversation lets use 3k as a base figure.. at todays prices.....10 onces pays you back......Im talkin about growning good shit.. you cant get past the fact that after you get your investment back....then its all gravy.....big bucks from that time forward.....that my friends is the problem.. think about this.....all growers an dealers ...suddenly get past the easy money bullshit and sell their crops for even say 75.00 an once...for the best shityou can grow....that is 1200.00 a pound....if you crop ios 5 pounds you just took in 6000.00 tax free dollar....how much did it REALLY cost you to grow that second or third crop....huh...be honest here growers....stop the bullshit....afterthe cost of your set up is covered...growing weed is cheap as fuck.... Power, nutrients, soil, blah blah blah ....is CHEAP to buy....say if cost you 500 bucks to grow that 5 lb crop...you my friend have just pocketed 5500 at 75.00 an oz for yourself...that is nothing but fuckin self serving GREED. Growing weed is the easiest way to make outragous money today...The buyers have followed like sheep into believing that 300 an once for good weed is OK... when weed was 40.00 an once for great shit....everybody smoked...evrybody was happy...the crime factor was practically non existant..and ....the growers STILL made great profits from that 640 dollar pound.... we all bitch about prices .....well.....growers an dealers....stop the fuckin greed and get real...I guaranty if tomorrow EVERYONE that has anything to do with weed supply got over the lure of easy money and dropped the prices down to even 100.00 an once not only would you see an increase in sales....but the crime factor (which the govenment hides behind) would fuckin decrease to a point that it would no longer give the lawmakers a tool to use for prohibition... but.....alas....just like everything good since the beginning of time...once an easy buck can be made.....greed takes over an everybody gets fucked.... does anybody remember 25.00 sneakers....I do.....and nobody made judgements on which fucking label your pants had on them......then greed an money an socail status bullshit changed it all.....jusrt like what has happened to weed in essence.....its our own dam fault that the laws will never change because the general public are SHEEP and will pay whatever is quoted just to "fit in" the crowd....we fucked ourselves bigtime....
Im not entirely sure I understand, but maybe its because I dont rememeber when jeans were $25 and lables dont mean a thing. Im not a sheep either, I think the price that I pay for my bags are pretty reasonable. If I were to take the time and energy to build a grow room, and grow my own plants, the only thing Id really have is less time and energy and the satisfaction of my own grow. I dont bake my own bread, and I think the price I get a loaf of Itailian is pretty reasonable too. Laws arent going to change becuase im buying my bags from someone who is using the money she makes to supplement her income. And how much does the "risk factor" cost to you??
A person buyin a half pound of weed an resells using what profit to pay bills is not the problem...thats asmall fish in the ocean the huge problem is the growers that grow that pound...for a cost of 100.00 and puts a price of 3500 on it.....thats were the greed starts....an thats were it could be stopped... I dont bake my bread either.....but i dont pay 300 for a loaf either... just try to follow the numbers.....even with a "bust factor" its still outragous... lets justforthe sake of comparison...take bread....1.00 a loaf..right...it costs the bakery say 10 cents...90% profit....thats fine ...they do the work....I pay reasonable prices an eat the bread.... weed....say cost grower 100.00 to grow that pound of dank....prices it at 3500...an anyway ya slice it....big money profits = crime...period...take away the crime..take away the power of lawmakers to use it as a tool.....really thats my point.... 340 % profit....hello...bust factor included....thats nothing but greed....
I hear what your saying, but it all comes down to supply and demand. People want it, so theyre going to pay for it. If you want it cheaper, dont go through other people. Thats just what I think.
I know its supply and demand.....and that can dictate pricing... just because a seller can make 300% profit...is it good for the over all picture.. let me put this like the gas situation we are about to see... The hurricane was crippled 20% on onshore US oil production....OK Prices are gonna jumpo like hell...Ill pay it without complaint... BUT....the oil companies have NO INTENT on leaving the traditional Labor day gas price hike off...they will add several cents per gallon....just because they always did it on laborday....does that piss you off....IT should....they can go one fuckin labor without that big fat bonus check....especially when we have the largest disaster in the nations history happeneing....and all the people involved dont need to be getting fucked just because on gas... ok....now could the real weed suppilers do something that might even help the cause......or make 300 %.....and not give a shit theres my point about weed....we need help from the inside.......oh nows a great time to say kill the fuckin middleman....you know who you are....thats were the most extreme markup comes from....money for nothing greedy assholes..
It is greed and the prices will probably not go down for a long time, especially when our economy isnt doing all the best. I do think that they should be more generous and think about everyone else except themselves because I myself cannot afford to smoke a lot. I have to be paying for college soon and it would be so much better if weed were cheaper. But as long as theres not weed flourishing in the towns, then people arent going to be all too competitive in their prices. I mean knowing people that smoke, I would highly doubt that the vast majority of the nation would boycott what they love.
All your storefronts, with the exception of gas stations and novelty stuff, triple the price they pay to the customer. And we're talking a legal industry here, not something that if the cops found out would land the grower in jail for a long time. High Demand + Low Supply + Illegal Industry + "Bust Factor" = High end cost. It's just the way it is. If I were to sell, I'd sure as shit want premium dollar for putting my ass on the line here. When growers get busted, it isn't slap on the wrist like possesion. It's distribution of a Section I narcotic, and that will put you in a pound me in the ass prison. Hypothetically, I'd get as much cash as I could because it's a huge risk. I'm not trying to lecture or be condoscending, I mean, I'm sure you've got way more knowledge on this stuff than me just due to being around longer. But really, do you think something that a lot of teens want, a lot adults want destroyed, and results in a huge sentince if caught is going to ever be cheap? Oh, and one last thing. I saw a documentary from a professional grower who gew these huge outdoor plants, about 50 of them. He only made $20,000 per year from that. Hardly a lucrative job, and he didn't even have the expense of lights and junk. Not that I disagree that it's a bit greedy, but I think legal jobs are much more fucked up. Is it not greedy that my boss got paid $100/hr and jacked off in his office while I was grinding out his work for $8/hr? Or that our gov't has a vested interest in keeping certain countries poor and has gone as far as to take out the country's president to install their own puppet one who makes sure the minimum wage goes back to $0.56 instead of the apparently outragous $1.50, meanwhile the managers of the companies who exploit those people are getting $300 blowjobs and flying in corperate jets. That, my friend, is what I call greed. EDIT: Oh man, I totally agree about the oil. What other industry has fluxuating prices like that? Probably some, but I mean, my Snickers bar doesn't change prices just because there's a chocolate shortage. Damn.
The cost of living these days is VERY HIGH so the prices of everything in this world will also go up with it. You may say its greedy, but put yourself in their shoes. Let's say that you grow and your only income is from selling your crop. Do you think you'd be selling it for a lot less just because someone thinks its too expensive, but yet they still buy it? Hell no you won't, and you should know that or you're just being hypocritical. And if growers do start selling their herb for cheaper, it ain't gonna change SHIT, because dealers will buy it and then go sell it for as much money as they can. Money rules the world and its something always on EVERYONE's minds, and people will do anything to get as much of it as they can. And if you're complaining about growers gettin 300% profits, look at what astro said. People in third world countries get paid by corporations as low as .50 cents an hour for making clothes, and then the corporations go sell it for like $100 or even more. Watch the movie "The Corporation" it will open your eyes to how fucking insane corporations are.
Not to jump onto anything but because weed needs to be grown illegally in most cases, it is hard. Especially the time it takes from day 1 till the end (like 2 months avg). I think prices for an oz are a bit pricey but people gotta live.
I agree totally with what your saying, they could at least lower the prices down, like id be happy paying $150 an ounce, instead of $300, but its not gonna happen
you know mate, i know exactly what your talking about being a grower myself too..........i've actually been thinking the same thing for a long time too..........ok there is the jail factor to worry about, here it could be a high as 14, of which you'd do 7...........but it's still too expensive the price a dealer asks for, i grow only for myself and my friends, i've never sold, or would even contemplate selling a gram of it...........money holds no sway over me.......sure i need to survive, but i have a job and that's what that's for, take my setup for example........... i can grow 4 females every 8 weeks say.........i get 7-8oz from it.........that would be about £1120 - £1280...........every 8 weeks, that's like $2200 - $2500...............not bad for 4 plants eh?...........imagine having a room full..........say 20+ you could get upto $12,000 every 8 weeks............x that by a year...x6....=$72,000 a year...............- costs of lights soil etc and nutes........maybe $2,000-4,000............ that's still a shitl;oad of money, and that's only a room...........think of industrial grows, or even better, free outdoor grows getting a pound a plant and not even needing anything but a seed.............it would end up like a 10,000% mark up...............i beleive all weed should be free, and anyone ever smokes weed with me........it's the free kind you get............ps what does a good OZ of chronic on average in America go for........$400-500?...........work those figures into the above and it will be way more...........
