Haven't been here very long, but what the fuck is with the threads that pop up every other day about how alcohol is the devil? Or the even funnier 'weed v.s alcohol' threads, which make absolutely fuck all sense. Usually goes something like this, 'I GOT SO DRUNK LAST NIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME, TOOK LIKE 10 SHOTS, I HATE ALCOHOL!!! For fucksake, did nobody ever show you how to drink responsibly? It's makes for some cringeworthy reading. That's a bit like someone new to smoking taking a big milky bong hit, probably not handling it too well, feeling a bit shit afterwards and going I HATE WEED. No, just, no. Most people don't drink to get so drunk they don't know what the fuck's going on. They have a glass of wine over dinner, or a few beers in the evening to relax. Obviously, some people will abuse it, just like some abuse weed. Just like some abuse caffeine or nicotine, or even sugar. Sitting around all day getting high, makes you no better than the person who drinks all day. If you don't like it, you don't like it. That's cool. But don't come on here, a cannabis forum of all places, and start talking about how alcohol is the worst drug out there. Come on y'all. Peace, and drink responsibly.
You need to read up on the dangers of alcohol compared to weed... And so you know we don't look down on alcohol here, But to say its no different is full of wrong...

Seem pretty frequent to me, one would be more than enough. Yeah I'm well aware of the dangers, but it's not really dangerous if used correctly. Which is the point I'm trying to make. They are different, I didn't say they weren't. Some people just seem to think it's fine to smoke all day everyday, whilst belittling those who chose to use alcohol from time to time.
It's called moderation and being autonomous, not every person that consumes alcohol immediately turns into a drunken angered mortal. Check this out: http://science.howstuffworks.com/alcohol7.htm to broaden your understanding.
Alcohol is awesome. Part of the problem is that this site is full of young Americans for whom alcohol is stigmatised and demonised (even illegal). Here in europe its far more relaxed and pretty much everyone does it. A spliff is nice, but sometimes a beer is just as good
Well it is an open forum, and people are allowed to post whatever they choose as long as it's within the rules. If you disagree with someone, you are free to post your opinion. And you won't find many people here belittling people who choose to drink in moderation.
Most drunks pretend to be bursting w/ confidence, and smart, but on the whole the majority of them are broken people - overweight, depressed, and spiraling downward. I can't find it in myself to have respect for people who live their life in a bottle. Saw too much of that depressing lifestyle growing up to ever want to have it be part of my life
Eh since this is a website dedicated to weed you should expect the occasional "I hate alcohol!" thread or post. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and that's the point of a forum. I skim over the posts instead of arguing with someone about why it's good and why it's bad.

You don't frequent the Post Your Thoughts or Announce My Drunkenness threads too much Yeah, some people on GC (or stoners) can hold some pretty harsh views on alcohol, often due to a couple bad experiences Some even state it should be banned, ironically. Others, opposite end of the spectrum. Party hardy alcohol is just another drug, it can be used or abused. The only difference is it happens to be legal everywhere. I don't really drink anymore for health reasons. I used to really put it away, I didn't realize how much I really drank until I stopped. I can count on one hand how many times I've drank in the past year. I suppose I kind of miss the social aspect of it, but I'm old enough to grow up and move past that anyway, so no great loss. A couple beers every so often is alright, though.
