Grasscity Farmers

  1. Hey whats up GC, I know for a fact that I am not the only one that dreams of having a lot of land and living the farm-life. Any actually farm owners, animals, not necessarily crops, but if you do have crops thats cool as well, mary jane gardens are also acceptable.:smoke: I know that farm life isn't easy because you work a lot, but the whole idea just seems like what I would want in my future.

  2. I have a lot of admiration for anyone who starts a farm, without inheriting one. Farming is VERY hard work. I plan on doing a sustainable farm when I get my own house/some land. Nothing to sell, just some vegetables, hops, fruits, herbs, etc. Will probably include some kind of drip irrigation system/rainwater collection/composting my own soil. It's definitely interesting, but it's not what I want to do with my life. I just want to grow my own good, fresh, healthy food.

Good luck though man! You will definitely need it, but if you set your mind to it... you can! Once again, best of luck to you.

Not really a farm, but i grow many of my own crops (corn, celery, swiss chard, cherries, beans, tomatoes, potatoes, marry j., quinoa, etc.) and keep poultry (guineas, chickens, and turkeys).
The work isnt really that hard after you get used to it.
    Good luck!

  4. my mom's side had 40 acres of pears that we were losing money on, so we had to uproot and burn them. now we lease the land to someone who grows hay.

but on my mom and dad's little 5.5 acres we have some grapes, apples, pears, plums, blueberries, and a garden that we grow stuff in every year. peas are always manditory. also been growing giant pumpkins in our compost pile since I was a freshman in high school. they've all just been volunteers the past few years. have horses, chickens, and a goat.

  5. Wow thats terrible that you had to do that to your hard work. But that is awesome that you guys have both animals and crops.:D

  6. im doing good with my 100 ftx 50 foot garden,,,,,,

    a personal garden is all i need,,,,,

  7. Thats good chicken. Yea I probably should have rephrased the question to who grow their own crops, because Large scale farmers probably wouldn't have time to be on GC

  8. I really want to own some acreage some day. I garden now but I would like to have chickens and maybe some goats or something. I want to do u-pick raspberries and blueberries and strawberries and asparagus and the list goes on.

  9. horse, dogs, cats, chickens and a nice veggie garden with some fruit trees (we leave the fruit for the moose and deer)

  10. im good just growing cannabis

I used to live on a farm, now im in the city. Maybe some day ill return to my roots, but god knows that wont only be a corn and bean farm :smoke:

  11. been workin on a farm for the past 6 years along with the herb it has completely changed my outlook on life and who i want to be, now in school for environmental engineering and hoping to own my own farm one day its such a great lifestyle its a shame society has drifted away from it. nothing like smokin a j munchin on a juicy peach after the morning pickin

and to think i wanted to make guns and bombs for a living when i was younger wtf was i thinking.

  12. Hey, don't let living in an urban environment stop you from farming if you want to.

Roof-top gardens, 'growing up,' and small scale composting are all very do-able in most apartments.

Just an idea. You can also grow things hydroponically... yes, things can be grown using those methods other than weed! :)

  13. Thanks for the input everyone. It must be nice knowing that you grew your own veggies and weed:D. I hope one day I can have a lot of animals like horses, cows, and chickens

  14. Not a farm by any means but live on 5 acres with a bunch of fruit trees and veggie gardens. Includes a small lake with planted bass and perch. Also raise a couple pigs for slaughter, a dozen chickens for eggs, and about ready to get another steer. Then I grow my summer crop out there. I love living out of the city.

  15. I want nothing more in life than to have a nice small farm to sustain me and a few people. Next month I'm going to be going to a farm north of where I live to hopefully get some skills and knowledge. Maybe in 10-15 years I'll have my own land and everything.

Oh, and a huge cannabis crop as well.:smoke:

  16. The best way to learn is from experience, so it's good that you're getting some. I also suggest (if you have the space,) a small grow in your back yard or something. Even tending to relatively easy to grow plants will give you a much better understanding of the lifestyle/knowledge of how to handle certain situations.

Just an idea. Good luck with your dream man. :)

  17. ive been working on a farm for the past 6 years, 4 consistently before i left for college the last 2 have been spent summer/fall, ive gained quite a bit of knowledge during this time and cant wait till im older and can get a piece of my own land, im really good friends with the owners son on the farm i work on now and we blaze together alot, when weed becomes legal we've agreed to convert some of the land he will inherit into grow space for some dank buds ah cant wait till we get legislation on that taken care of. ive done a small hydro grow too, and want to get an aero grow done when i move out after i graduate

  18. Props go out to all you farmers. You guys are definitely under appreciated. Everyone is so satisfied with their supermarkets that they don't even support their local farmers.

Any of you guys have nice tractors? I was looking at valtra and new holland tractor videos on youtube.(I know I'm a creep) But it would be so cool, I could imagine myself burning one as I'm coming back from a hard days work in the fields.I guess I could only dream on for now.:devious:

  19. everyone of the tractors on the farm i work on are pretty much at least 10-15 yrs old except fo rthe lil kubota they picked up a year ago definetly one of the funnest ones to operate other than the john deere 4230 shits fuckin bigggg
