  1. You all read this when you logged into the forums:

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The nice people from Facebook yesterday decided to delete our Facebook fanpages, based on the newsfeeds related to Marijuana news. And with that action, they destroyed our whole facebook community. If you liked us in the past via the facebook button, we ask you to like us again. And show FaceBook nothing can stops Grasscity.com ;-) , appreciate your support! - SJ

IMO facebook is evil. Did you know they are now using isometric profiling on all pictures uploaded to facebook? This means that any pic that appears of you online, even walking by in the background, even if you are not tagged (this is to a degree, depending on the resolution) goes into a database and can be found by searching your faces' isometric profile? This means that anyone who is computer savvy, or say the authorities, can figure out where you were and what you were doing at many different points in time, or find you if you do not want to be found.

Also, facebook is connecting with many many other websites and collecting and trading your personal information. Super fucked up. If I log into pandora, I will see ads saying "your friend jon doe, likes these artists" next to that appears a pic of my buddy jon and the list of music he likes on his facebook.

Sure, it is a great social networking site and it started out innocently enough. But with the momentum it has gained and the amount of people/ money/ advertising potential involved, some big money and companies have gotten involved and I would say that facebook is slowly becoming a tool of "the man." The fact that they will not even let you talk about marijuana is evidence of this, they must be in cahoots with some of the big boys who make money from it being illegal.

It seems facebook is basically an online dossier on many many people, perhaps one day facebook will become required, even though it is currently a "fun" extra thing you can do with your time.

This all being said, I do not give a fuck that we can't talk about weed on facebook. I also think none of us should care and maybe Grasscity should delete it's fanpage in protest.

To the admins: I know this is tough, as facebook brings traffic and spreads the word about what a great site this is, but you have to choose who and what you want to involve yourself with, and these facebook clowns seem like bad news to me. Why not take a stand and protest?

    Blades, what do you think?

  2. I'm one of those people who just doesn't have a Facebook.

Not because I'm paranoid, it's just that most people I know and have met through my life are total cockeaters and I can barely stand dealing with them in my daily routine let alone have them all up in my social biznaz on the internet.

Boundaries are a forgotten part of our culture

  4. I use facebook to keep in contact with army buddies. It's not hard to not put up things you don't want the world to see. I don't fill out categories like music or likes and interests, I have basic information and a few pictures. This is all you need to keep in touch.

  5. I have a facebook too, I personally like the benefits although the bad parts are scary. I know the above post is a long one, but is anyone actually reading it? Can i hear some actual opinions? C'mon blades!

  7. Ya know, I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I KNOW that facebook is a tool utilized along with google and several other large sites to track people and collect large amounts of personal information. Now I can't prove it, but its nice to see someone else notices the strange coincidences.

After reading this, I'm seriously considering deleting my facebook. Not because I was a member of the grasscity community, because i wasn't, but because I don't like what the site represents.

  8. Well the very fact that Facebook now has Russian investors, means that Russia now has the capability to get knowledge and intelligence on anyone using Facebook.

To me... I dislike the thought of that. And hence dislike Facebook

  9. I'm just here.

I don't care if people know i smoke, i rarely do anymore..... i don't get paid much. :(

And on facebook i like the most random shit, these people are probably baffled by my profile.

  10. Ok, i'll bite...

For me, FB was something I found out about as a Fresher in uni in 2005. I set up an account, only to be told that I didn't go to a recognised educational establishment; which did worry me somewhat (the uni is like 5 centuries old)

All was good in the beginning, found school friends, added them, not spoken to them since. It is something that I go on once in a blue moon, to see if people are alive, dead, married or whatever.

Zuckerburg did what any young whotsit with a good idea would do, he took the idea, ran with it, sold it to Bono and any other advertising whore that he could find. Good on the guy, at least he is sitting on a fat wedge of cash, which is more than I can say.

Like all good ideas, FB ended up turning bad. At least SJ hasn't stepped on too many toes. That is something I can respect.

  11. Shit I deleted mine a few weeks back. Everyone should do the same.

    Srsly.

  12. One of my high school friends lived in Kirkland House at Harvard with Mark, when he was starting FB. I had one of the first few thousand accounts.

In the very beginning it was totally geared toward college. One of the primary sections on your profile was a list of classes you were taking, which you selected from a search/drop down type menu. Click on the class name and it would bring up a list of ppl in it, so you could look up that cute chick or set up study groups.

But yea they fucked it up, haven't used it in years.

  13. Fuck a Facebook.

  14. but guise now we can liek everythin and nobody afraid

  15. WHOAH we can like things on here now?!

    LOVE it.

  16. Here's a very significant and important quote that I have lived by ever since I first heard the words uttered:

"Can't you see I'm busy being high?!" -Orange jacket pedestrian in San Andreas.

I think we've all got more interesting things to do than complain about a social networking site's privacy settings and moral issues. GC got it's page up again, the people will become fans again, and eventually FB will either figure it out that people smoke or they will just give up.

The privacy settings and the like are easily overcome. All you got to do is treat FB like a social networking site instead of like your main internet hub.

  17. C'mon grasscity. The like system? Way to take a stand:rolleyes:

  18. OH MAN LIKE LIKE LIKE!!!

  19. If you don't think we should talk about it then please do not post in the thread!

Privacy settings are not that hard to overcome but I do have a problem with the major backing they have, the amount of info on us they have, and I am stoked to hear that some other people feel the same way about it.

My friends think I am crazy when I bring it up even though we talk about conspiracies and stuff once in a while.

  20. If someone pulled info from my Facebook they'd find out I live in Arizona, and all my quotes. Only picture I have is from three years ago, the picture was taken when I didn't have facial hair. They would also find my relationship status, and the music I like.

I'm not to worried. Sure it's dumb to have 300 pictures of yourself, I wouldn't put pictures in mass on the internet on any website.
