Hey there grasscity,
I have been lurking around these forums for quite some time, and until recently moving back to my native country i have chosen not to speak on the subject of marijuana usage so freely on the internet,

So here I am, to share some insight into Marijuana usage in Dubai.

Despite what the Media says, and uniformed people, Marijuana amongst other drugs are COMMONLY available in Dubai, The country has harsh drug laws, but as Dubai is a corrupt country, it can be voided for the right price and depending on who your dealing with.

Most weed what is sold/bought comes from either afghanistan or Pakistan, the afghani weed is of a much higher quality and is somewhat harder to get if you dont know what your doing or who your looking to get it from.
From the choices available, most of it makes its way into the country from the neighbouring country Oman, despite the government being able to stop truck loads of well hidden drugs like cocaine and heroin, they seem to have no system to detect or find weed, no matter how poorly it is hidden, I have herd stories of people who have had it sitting on the passenger seat in a shopping big with a packet of chips ontop, and people who have hidden it inside the cars body works, it just depends how safe the people trafficking it want to be.

The penalties for trafficking drugs can be a from a minium of 4 years, up to life imprisonment, I believe death penalty is also issued in some cases, but it is not common.
But the laws are the problem, Dubai trys to follow sharia law, but also trys to keep it modern and western as it is a popular tourist destination, sending people to jail for 4 years for sleeping pills is not what they want publicized, so the truth is not freely advertised for a lack of another word.
The drug system works like this (for marijuana)
0.000001g to 0.2 g is personal use, it will land you 4 years in the slammer
anything above that is distribution/intent to sell/importation, it will also get you 4 years to life, but it is commonly the 6-8 year mark what is dealt out.
As you may have seen on the news people have been sent to prison for 0.00001 g's stuck to their shoe, or on their clothing, heck a guy is still in jail for having poppy seeds in his pocket from a bread roll he ate.

also if you intend to live in the country you will have to do a blood test, in the blood test they will test it for drugs, if drugs are found, you will have your door kicked in by a swat unit and dragged off to prison.

Luckily for you if you are sent to jail for 'personal use' you will probably get out within 1-2 years, if your lucky enough to be sent in just before the holy month of ramadan, you should count your blessings as you will most likely be released as the ruler of the country chooses 1000-2000 inmates who have committed insignificant crimes to walk free.


Now you may be wondering how someone in Dubai will acquire the prohibited plants,
there are 3 types of people to get it from they are The russians, Pakistanis/Nigerians in the ports, and rarely, VERY RARELY expatriate teenagers

The Russians - The russians can provide you with all types of good, because beleive it or not the russian mafia's opperate largely out of the neighbouring emirate sharjah, so if you are buying from them, you will most likely be traveling to Sharjah to buy it.

Pakistanis/nigerians - Dubai river have ALOT of illegal things come through it, from people being smuggled from Europe to Saudi, to guns and drugs and pornography.
The people who sell it will most likely not sell it to just anyone, so first few times you will be either paying a large amount for a very small quantity (this is common with the pakistanis), the nigerians will sell you a large amount for a good price, but I would be VARY careful as normally they have already been investigated by the feds, and are now simply dealing to catch more people.
The main areas where they operate are Dubai river, Dubai City Center and Naif souq, you could also risk it at karama but the Feds are undercover there alot

The Teenagers - As someone who went to school there i knew alot of people who fronted they could get the goods, but never could, or simply rip you off, i will admit i was one of these people, i would sell idiots a commonly available form of tobacco called 'doka or medwa' or commonly called 'duke' amongst british teenagers, i would sell about 3 grams of this to people for around the 130 USD mark.
so as its pretty obvious, avoid buying from teenagers as they will rip you off.



THis post is poorly structured, but i hope i have at least shed some light on the subject, i no loger live in that country and dont really ever want to go back, but it is a nice place for a visit.

its weird how Saudi is a huge link to the drug trafficking in the middle east hey, for but then again its such a backwards country i guess it makes sense.
