Granny, my dad says MMJ is a sham

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by bongsin, Nov 17, 2012.

1. like many others, he views it as an excuse for stoners to get legal weed. He also claimed that there is not even one medical condition that cannabis treats equally or more effectively than prescription drugs normally used. I know that this is not the case and at least some conditions are treated equally as well with weed. Can you give me a list of studies talking about certain conditions weed treats as well or better than the leading prescription drug?

2. The studies are great and all... but why don't you just tell him to stop listening to Mitt Romney?

3. Just click the link in her sig. That's the whole list. Go blow his mind with science!

4. Actually the first link in my sig is for the old smaller version- to get the new 2012 with all the latest info, you have to email me, or PM me your email!

5. It sure seems logical to me that taking medicine derived from something from the earth would always be better for you than something engineered in a laboratory from chemicals; even if it weren't as effective, which it is or better.

6. MMJ is a sham, duh. Proof = mmj area waiting lobbies.

7. Doctors offices and hospitals, as well as all pharmacies also have waiting areas.

8. Ive read a few articles and from my experience (i knowbyou didnt ask for it lol) I was a very anti-drug person. That was before all my health problems. I have tumours in my liver, IBD (Irratable bowel disease) and cysts in my repoductive system, the three above are very painful. The worst is the growing tumours in my liver. I read cannabis reduces tumour growth and the tumours I have after extensive research do grow to point of removal. These tumours were discovered in march this year, for that reason I started smoking, the mri showed three tumours averaging 4cm each I had another mri in august they're now 5cm each. Along with smoking pot for the tumours its reduced my pain significantly for the other two. Ive been perscribed 4 different meds for the IBD none worked. For the pain I get from the cysts in my repoductive system the specialists are stumped why I get the pain. I know a 45 yr old woman who has arthirtus she had so much trouble and pain even holding a pen, 3 days after smoking pot she was touching her toes with the same hands that she couldnt hold a pen with. Weed works. :D

9. And I thought of another one! Saw an article today on some poor dude with this problem-

Marijuana For Intractable Hiccups (abst -1998) The Cannabis Link - Medical / Healing Information

Marijuana For Intractable Hiccups

A patient with AIDS and a history of oesophageal candidosis underwent minor ambulatory surgery. He was on indinavir, and he received perioperative intravenous midazolam and dexamethasone. The following morning he developed persistent hiccups. Chlorpromazine controlled the hiccups only during sleep. Oral nifedipine, valproate, lansoprazole, and intravenous lidocaine had no effect. Glabellar acupuncture on day six and nine terminated the hiccups for less than an hour. Removal of a hair from the tympanic membrane on day 8 and irrigation of marcaine into the external auditory canal on day nine gave only brief relief. On day eight the patient, who had not smoked marijuana before, smoked marijuana, and his hiccups stopped. They recurred on day nine and on day ten the patient again smoked marijuana; hiccups stopped immediately and did not recur."

Sure looks like lighting up a couple of times worked, when pharmaceuticals and even surgical procedures were not working! :smoking:

Granny

10. I have GERD and get very painful hiccups frequently. I can personally confirm that a bit of cannabis cures them and they usually don't return after it wears off.

I've used it to cure terrible hiccups hundreds of times.

11. I originally didn't want to turn to MMJ for my chronic pain, but there are zero side effects for me, especially compared to the pain meds I was taking before.

The RX drug industry makes billions! The only reason people say MMJ is a sham is because they are uninformed, and don't realize that they could grow better meds than the government or doctors can supply us with.

12. How anyone can say with a straight face that pharmaceuticals are better at treating anything than weed when they can't even treat the simplest things without numerous negative side efects sometimes up to and including death when bud never hurt or killed anyone is beyond me.

13. No, MMJ itself is not a sham - it works for many people with many different problems. If there's a sham, it's the kids lying to docs, docs rubber stamping recs for money, sick people paying wayyyy too much for weed, and the greedy fucks running most of this.

14. the worst part is that he is a nurse in a hospital!

15. The mmj movement is a sham. Marijuana has healing properties and i honestly believe it is a cure for many ailments. But to limit a plant that grows in the ground and is used recreationally only to people with ailments is bullshit. I should be able to legally smoke just like the next guy without having some fucked up issue. I will defend the people who need it medically, but the movement as a whole does not have my support.
