    Ok peoples, it's on again!
We are going with all clones this season. I didn't like growing from seeds. Clones are much more uniform and you don't have to sex them. We have also decided to use soft soap
(1 tsp. Ivory dish soap to two gallons of water) during the entire vegetative stage. In the past we have used basically nothing except beneficial insects and water to wash off the few pests we've had. That has always worked fine but this season we've decided to step things up a bit. I don't think soft soap DURING VEG should cause any problems with taste or anything? If anyone with experience feels different, please let me know.
Yesterday we made a trip to Harborside Health in Oakland. We picked up 18 clones,3 of each strain. We only grow 12 plants but we got extra because we are thinking about making them into mothers. After harvest we'll know which of the six strains we like most and use them for clones.
The six strains are: Super Silver Haze, Blue Dream, Cherry Punch, Headband, GDP and Recon. I chose my strains not just for potency and taste but also for outdoor harvest times. I wanted to make sure the harvest was staggered because last season we had a bit more then we could handle all at once. If all goes well the GDP and Recon should be ready in Sept., Cherry Punch and Headband in Oct. and SSH and Blue Dream in Nov.
I will be posting pics of the babies as soon as we get them in containers.
Until then, here are some of my fav pics from the past.

My b/f, and garden tender, Andy standing our `09 garden. Pic was taken in early Sept.

A beautiful Romulan bud in bloom

This was most of our `09 harvest. We still have more then half of this left. I love never running out.

A rooftop view of our `08 garden. The plants were a bit stunted because of two months of smoke from all the nor cal. fires that year.

This is a big fat Candy Shiva bud from our `08 garden. I have never seen a plant get buds this big and solid. There were 27 big ass top buds. This one was 14 1.2 inches long. This pic made it into the May `09 issue of High Times"pix of the crops"

I guess you can never be sure who's watching. I'm glad I'm legal. This is a pic of my `07 garden FROM SATTELITE

This is our `06 garden. I believe this is the first year we planted in the ground. I had more of a vegetable garden back then. We still grow veggies but the pot has kind of taken over.

I tried to get this to show as a pic but it didn't work. oh well, just click the link to see the receipt for my clones. I thought you all would get a kick out of it. Notice the list of strains at the bottom of the receipt. (EDIT: I got the pic to post. See 3/24/10 post.)

The clones, day one. They survived the four hour trip just fine. We put twelve of them in one gallon pots. We use Kellog Patio mix and added in a little extra bat guano. We'll keep them under lights until they're ready to go out.

This Is the receipt for my clones. I love seeing transaction receipts for marijuana. Too funny. Years ago I used my credit card for a purchase just so I could see the transaction on my statement.
Notice the strains listed at the bottom.
    Legal marijuana..........what a trip.

  9. I dig the headband for nighttime puffing and the Blue Dream for daytime;) I will be watching this as always Grandma.

  10. Hope this is as epic as last years was for you. You're quite the farmer yourself lol. sub'd

  11. Damn I remember the 4th pic , OMG... how much yield did you get from those ones?

  12. Like you I went to Harborside this year for clones instead of using seeds.

I also picked up the blue dream (4) and headband (2) but also picked up XXX x ChemDawg (3), Durban Poison (2) and Romulan (2). I really wanted to get that SSH but they were out, a friend grew it last year at it was amazing (both high and yield)

As you can tell I'm all about sativa.

I have been vegging them under a T-5 4' 8 bulb in 1 gallon pots for almost three weeks now and they already have roots sticking out! I wanted to veg for at least another month but will need to transplant to 3 1/2 G pots if I do.

When do you place yours outdoors? I always try to wait till there is at least 14 hours of daylight but that is almost 2 months away. I think I may have been a little to eager.

  13. Thanks all. I'm hoping for an awesome grow this season. We still need to till the garden. I would like to put them outdoors on 4/20 but it may be too cold still. Also, If I put them out to early the light cycle may not be right.

Everyone likes the Headband. I think it was a recent cannabis cup winner in Amsterdam. I can't wait.

Lots of grow room. I've been growing many years. The more room they get, the bigger they get.

We only kept seven out of the tweleve. Two we kept were runts and we only got like 1 1/2 pounds total from both. From the other five we got like 11-12 pounds but that didn't include the bottoms (that we get rid of), which was probably another 2-3 pounds.

[quote name='NorthBayNugs']Like you I went to Harborside this year for clones instead of using seeds.

DAMN! I wanted Chem Dawg and Romulan but they were out! They sure go through their inventory quick. One day they have it. Next day they don't. Three days later they have it again. Their online menu doesn't do me any good when I live 4 hours away.

  14. breaker breaker

  15. Very nice man, are you up in Shasta county? Also, have you noticed potency differences between seed plants and clones?

  16. great grow. ive been to harborside myself great people great pot. happy growing! FYI headband is best strain 2010 in my opinion +rep

  17. <--- LOVES the headband. Awesome. Scribed the the journal, last years is epic..

  18. Granny, you're at it again! I was wondering what that fat golden cola was sticking outta the garden but now I see it's YOU, bro. haha Seriously, do you use different types of bat guano at different stages of plant growth? Would you mind sharing what types and how you apply and in what ratios? TIA and good luck bro, those are some wicked nice strains and I guess there's no guesswork in your selection! You west coasters kill me man, a trip to the Health Center means something completely different here back east...prolly means you're gonna bust your ass on a treadmill haha

  19. Ha. Actually that "fat golden cola" is my b/f. He does the farming. I've been growing legally since 1996. He's been here since `07 and I've taught him what I know about growing. He started a thread back in `08 as puffpuffere but never kept it up so I took over as grandma gudenhi (good `n high).
I didn't know they have different types of bat guano. I'll have to check that out.
We don't use a lot of additives during growing. We add them to the containers we use indoors and till stuff into the soil before planting outdoors. We'll use the guano in the containers and in each planting spot so they can get a good dose for the veg stage.
