i was smoking yesterday and i thought of an idea about light. normally in vegetative growth we hit the plants with 24/0, 18/6, 16/8, or whatever amount of light that is more than 12/12, and then during flowering we eventually switch to 12/12 has anyone ever attempted to lower the light cycle from a predominant light state to a 12/12 state gradually? i would think that this seems to mimic the pattern of the sun and nature much more than simply going from 24/0 to 12/12 one day such a cycle could be completed by reducing the light every 15-30 minutes until 12/12 is reached thoughts ?
I've thought about this a bunch of times, I might give it a try once I get my new genetics all dialed in...
I think it would just make it take longer to switch from veg to flower, and you would just be giving your plants less light when they could be taking more?
I think that there is too much much work in programming timers to do this. Reducing time by half an hour a day would take an extra week to get to 12/12, do most indoor growers really want to spend an extra week in veg? I mean most of us are trying to get in as many harvests per year as possible. Yea it emulates nature, but it seems like a lot of work and overkill for something that probably does not increase yields by a drastic %. But by all means perform an experiment so we can know for sure. Just seems counter productive for someone lazy like me lol. I try to make less work for myself, I hate programming my timers Sent from my Spaceship using the GrassCity App.
you could plan for that week to be in veg though so you're not really spending an extra week in veg if that's already factored in
