Hello grasscity I am VERY excited to bring to you my first personal grow! I have worked with cannabis plants before but never had my own. soon that will not be the case. I also am quite the green thumb, been growing vegetables and working at greenhouses for last few years. This journal will be updately frequently with pics once the plants are going for now i am going to stick to text. The box: 2'x2'x2' wooden box. Light sealed. On the inside on two of the walls is a metal plate with a sheet of tin foil over top. The Lights hang from the walls with magnets obtained from old computer hard drives which attach to the plates. the walls are all lined with foil atm but plan to switch to mylar after first harvest. Has a hole on the top to allow heat to flow out ( on the principle hot air rises) should i wire in a fan? (read on to read my light setup etc) than add a diff passive intake? or is it not necessary for what im running? The lights: Currently i have six Cfls mounted on the walls sides facing down. 5 of them are 40 watt equivalents with a lumen value of 2740 lumens and a 2700k light spectrum. these are my veg bulbs. the sixth bulb is a 1700 lumen 2700k light spectrum, super store ran out of the big ones its 5400k light spectrum for flowering right? does the lumen value matter a huge amount? I plan on adding a third light brace allowing me to have three more bulbs put in as well. The soil: I have access to lots of different ferts etc due to working in a garden center, but i wanted to stay all organic. so heres what i have and how i was planning to mix it, let me know if i should alter in any way. Hp potting soil( 50-70% depending on if i add manure...see below) Worm castings(30-40%) bone meal (1%. handfull in each pot) And i have heard mushroom manure is good for cannabis growing? i have access to top of the line mushroom manure and steer manure, which is better for cannabis and how much should i mix in? the greenhouse workers reccomended a ten percent mix to avoid burning plants ( they were reffering to vegetables and shrubs) Ferts: Fish fertilizer, its all organic made from fish and fish eggs?, smells so disgusting i almost puke when i open it. The rating is 2-3-0 on it but it is the most reccomended fert from the greenhouse for organic growing. equivalent to say old pork putting a fish in his holes... i plan on using this for veg ferts. Alaskan fish fert 0-10-10 for flowering Not much to say really, it is the flowering version of the other fish fert, same company but diff recipe (obviously) anyone know anything about it? Is there any other good sources of nutrients i can give them that wont risk burning combined? are these fish ferts good? everything i know about plants say yes...but you never know with cannabis. The plan: The entire box is 23' high on the inside, the pots stand at about 6-7 inches ( funny shaped 3 gallon pots) leaving me with roughly 16 or 17 inches for the plants to grow. I was thinking of putting the screen about 8 inches above the plants and letting them grow to it leaving just under a foot of room above the screen for the buds to grow into, does this sound about right or should i adjust slightly? well...that was fun to recap all my plans !! PLEASE give me advice or tips and when pictures start appearing please speak up! need all the advice i can get!!
