Got old Money$?

  1. Collecting old shit's been a hobby of mine but old coins and paper money is by far where its at. :devious:

My fiance's grandma recently gave me a few coins before she went to sell most the other day and I've been all gitty about them ever since! Just because they're some of the more older ones I've gotten now. 1800's. I also work at a place where I deal with a lot of bills and coins daily and if I ever see a foreign coin or bill I pay for it and snatch that bitch up, same goes for old american ones too. I have a lot of wheat pennies...even if they aren't worth alot now, they'll be worth more when I'm older. :D

Blades, any of ya'll got the love like me? I'll throw up some pics if you do!

  2. I do the same thing man, I've got a bunch of wheat pennies. and a few fancy nickels. I haven't found any old bills, because I think paper money gets recirculated more often than coins do. My pride and glory is a silver dollar from 1889

  3. Yeah, I see a lot of paper bills just because someone close to me orders bulk bills direct from the bank and they don't even care if the bill is worth more than $1,2,5,10,50,100 like its printed on the front/back. Hmm, once I find my connecter for the cam I'll post some pics of some of my favs.

  4. I've got a penny from 1919. I wonder how many thousands held that same penny.

  5. :hello: HERES SOME AMERICAN :hello:

    ive got mad foreign too

  6. I think about that stuff too..In that pic theres a couple pennies from 1836 and 1847, probably some of the first ever made, big honkers. I have one right below it with a little hole through it oddly...wonder if it saved a mans life..

So yea in the pics theres bills from 1930s and a 2 from the fifties. I should have posted the back of the two b/c its different and cool looking imo. The coins are buffalo nickels from the mid 1930s, mercury dimes from the forties, some old quarters, half dollar.

    :smoking: Show me your SHIT

  7. I have a 1953 silver certificate series a. It looks alot like a dollar, but there are slight differences. I got it as change at 7-11 and thought it was fake, but i went home looked it up and found out it was worth like 3 bucks:hello:.

  8. My Grandfather was a small time coin collector, I never really got into it - until the State Quarters series - I was trying to do the Presidential Dollars too, but after the first year I kind of slacked off. I do have a ton of wheat pennies and some old stuff, but I"m really not a coin collector.

I do have a set of the Disney Dollars they put out for Pirates of the Caribbean.

  10. Have you ever looked at the back of a $20 bill, man? Have you ever looked at the back of a $20 bill on weed!? There's some crazy shit on there! Like the guy hiding in the bushes, does he have a gun? I don't know!

  11. red team go, red team go!!!

  12. I used to own a few of those coins in ur first pic. unfortunately they were stolen so i never found out the value of em :(

  13. you sure?? in high school wed make pennys turn silver by putting them in chemicals. ive seen them around in other places too.

i have a couple 2 dollar bills. i dont really save old style money, but im not spending them cause i never see them. id rather have gotten 4 one dollar bills, but i was given these. whatever though its only 4 bucks. i have a ton of coins from other countries too. some friends of my family thought i liked saving coins or something, so they started giving me a bunch of coins from random countries. most of em ive never even taken out of the envelopes they gave them to me in. so i havent even seen them

  14. The US did mint steel pennies in 1943 due to wartime shortages of copper.

  15. needed for shell casings!

  16. Yeah I have three of four of the 'silver' pennies due to the shortage of copper, my grandparents always used to give me old coins/bills every now and then to collect when I was younger. Pretty cool stuff

  18. Dude I heard those pennies were worth a ballllls ton of money...a guy I know got handed one and his is valued at over 40,000...I doubt its the same as yours though.

I'll post up some of my others sometime, glad to know others like me here in GC :]

  19. The silver one's too my knowledge aren't worth anything more than a dollar...but a copper 1943 penny would be EXTREMELY rare and could be valued anywhere from $10k - 40,000+. I think...:smoking:

I have TONS of old coins in my closet from my grandpa. He was a big time coin collector and he decided to give his entire collection to me (I think I'm his favorite grandchild hehehe:D). He used to have over 100 of those steel pennies you guys are talking about but his house was robbed many years ago and they took most of his collection. Anyways, here is a selection of some old foreign coins he collected in his travels around the world.

    1. Germany 1935, you can even see little swastikas under the date.
    2. The back side
    3. Germany 1893
    4. The back side
    5. Unknown 1788, the writing on the edges is mostly worn off, so I'm not sure where it is from, but you can barely make out the date on the bottom.
    6. The front side
    8. Cuba, 1916
    9. The front side
    10. Netherlands, 1894

and 11. A random assortment from the collection, all from the 30s or more recent. From left to right, top to bottom:

Vatican City, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Austria, Sweden, South Africa, Germany, Bahamas, China(?), Bahrain, Curacao, Ireland, Italy, France, Newfoundland, Germany, Spain, Spain, Venezuela, Morocco, Netherlands Antilles, Netherlands Antilles, Portugal, and Portugal.

    Hope you like em' ;)
