Well, we are getting our cards in Missouri, and I decided I'm going to cultivate as well, so got a grow tent and some lights to experiment with. I know ... I got the wrong lights, wasted my money, etc. ..... BUT ... it is what it is. For now anyways .... So, here's the setup: IPower 32x32 grow tent. Really nice construction IMO. Then these lights. I'm only using the small one at the moment. (Be easy on me boys and girls ... ) I have some auto's going in 5 gallon buckets (2), and 2 more in smaller containers that I will transplant them later into 5 gallon buckets. I just started growing the 4th. I'm experimenting (because I can) with germinating the seeds vs. just planting them. I'm gonna germ from now on . They are all coming up, but I sat them outside one day and forgot about them, and I stressed one out, but it will live. I will take pics tomorrow in real light, not the purple ones ...lol. Not much to look at yet, but as I said, this is a LEGAL experiment for me, so it's all therapeutic I also have adequate fans and air movement, and have the light only on veg ~18 inches above the pots. I'm also using Fox Farms soil with some cheaper stuff that has the sticks in it ...., but I added worm castings and some other goodies in it too and added perlite. . I have some more worm castings, but I know I don't need those now, but will make tea later probably. Any recommendations on the height these lights should be, any experience you may have had with them if you have used them, and any other helpful advice. Appreciate it, and I will enjoy sharing my story on here. I inserted pics of the cheapo lights because I couldn't link to them.
Fellow Missourian here. Just got licensed on Friday. I'm going to keep up on this thread. I'm trying to grow six plants. I need light recommendations and seed/soil reccs as well.
Hey welcome to growing! cant open the link for the lights, could you type out the specs? Sent from my LG-H990 using Tapatalk
Yea, it's not letting me link them for some reason ? Roleadro LED Grow Light, Galaxyhydro Series 1000W Indoor Plant Grow Lights Full Spectrum with UV&IR for Veg and Flower-1000w And also a Exlenvce 600W LED Grow Light Full Spectrum for Indoor Plants Veg and Flower, led Plant Growing Light Fixtures with Daisy Chain Function (Triple-Chips 15W LED) Google will get ya there.
Here's a few pics. These have not been in the ground, including germ, for more than 10 days. I have some shitty soil that has those damn sticks in it mixed in there, so it makes it look dry as hell, but I don't want to over water. The one still has the seed on top and is starting to sprout the sucker leaves. I hope it pops off soon .
Wow those are some lights. Not super experienced in LEDs but If you can dim them dim them, seedlings don't need loads of light. Otherwise have them a distance from your plants. Like 120cm, if you see them stretching too much (increasing length between nodes) then lower the light. Also use the hand under the light technique to make sure its not too hot. In my experience seedlings dont need much, a bit of light, air and some water. Their root system is still developing so humidity is important and dont over water. 70% is what I aim for until roots have established. Temp around 25 to 28 lights on. Good luck Sent from my LG-H990 using Tapatalk
Thanks. I hope I get something good from this experiment, as well as learn some stuff. The biggest one is responding to the light well. It's about 20" above them, but the one that had the seed stuck on it is off to the side so it doesn't get the full light. I did get the seed off this morning. Never had that problem before, but I had to finish breaking it off with my fingernail. I basically just popped it open and it fell right off. I'm only using the 600 watt on the veg setting for less light on and off, but I will put the 1000 in there after I get some plants growing bigger.
Here we are a week later. The seed was stuck to the top of the Blue Dream, I had to put a fingernail in there and pop it off easily. After that, I discovered a few days later the sucker leaves had grown together from the hull holding them together as they developed (I'm guessing). I did some surgery to seperate the leaves, wasn't sure if I was gonna be able to save it or not, but it's coming around, just a runt still though. The other one is looking good so far.
