Got caught at college

    Quick info: I'm a senior, about to graduate, its my first offense, wasn't caught selling or had anyone say I was.

    So I was recently caught by campus safety. Which is the pseudo police force on college campuses if you didn't know that. Some larger schools have an actual police force, but mine is a small private college. Whatever, I digress.

    Anyways I was wondering how to tell/discuss the fact that I smoke with my parents. I am pretty confident that after my hearing, and hopefully after only getting fined that the college will inform my parents of the situation. Then my parents will definitely be pissed off and probably destroy my life for a pretty long time. What I want to know is how to talk to my parents so they don't hate me or do something drastic like throw me out. My parents have no idea I smoke btw.

    tl;dr got caught at college, parents don't know i smoke, parents will be informed, how to deal with parents.

    Anyone ever had experience with this before?

    I would play some reverse mindfuck. Think about your choices and how much lying you can get away with. Learn what the school knows, what they'll tell them and then cut them open and start your lies around what they already know. I.E If they tell parents caught you smoking in room alone then you cant say it was a friends, but just think hard. smoke sativa so you can think like me, well you wont be on my level, but sativa is closest thing to it

    Why would they inform your parents? That part just isn't making since to me. But anyway just sit them down and talk with them about it. Have your facts ready and maintain your cool.

    I wasn't smoking when they caught me. They did a smoke alarm detector test, to make sure we weren't tampering with them. I had started to grind some weed up to smoke later in the night and they smelled it. Found my weed, grinder, pipe, scales, papers, rollers. So they know I smoke...but they only found 7grams, and that is all I had on me at the time. Just bought it that day, and I really don't sell, the scales they found are so I can weigh what I have.

    My friend got caught and they told his parents. They'd tell my parents because they'd want them to know what I did and probably for my parents to make sure I don't smoke again. My college is stupid.

    And I have a 3.76gpa, and my grades have not dropped at all since I've been smoking...still I know my parents will shit on me. Not literally :).

    switch to a college where

    a. your treated as an adult
    b. you can live off campus

    The same exact thing happened to me last month. They were doing fire alarm checks and room checks and they smelled my shit and had to give them everything. My parents didn't know I smoked and I didn't know how to tell them either, but my best friend told me to just call them that night and just tell them, so I did.

    That sucks. If they don't see it there isn't anything they can do here. I haven't had my fire alarm in in monthes.

    The college tells your parents? That's some shit. I have to sign something to let them Tell my parents anything.

    I can't believe that my college would do anything but fine me at this point. There's like two months left before graduation and I'm going to graduation with fucking flying colors. If the college tells me parents, then I'll discuss it with them, otherwise I'm not even telling them. At least not till I am older. like 30.

    And @ the guy whose college doesn't check on smell alone, WTF? Super awesome.

    The most that would probably happen is that you would get kicked out of housing. But since your doing good in classes and all that. You should be good.

    And you're a grown ass man, I don't think they will contact you rents.

    I live in on campus apartments basically. But yea they have to see something, they aren't allowed to open any drawers unless they are already open or something is out.

    if you live in the states they will not call your parents. they cannot reveal any information without your consent as you are an adult. if they did tell your parents be really happy take them to court and get rich. trust me id LOVE for my college to tell my parents something like that cause id get so much money from them. id get in trouble but id get enough money where i could move out.

    you can take your college to court and get money they cannot tell your parents anything without your consent. id get a lawyer and go to court.

    Is this a fucking joke. You're a senior and you're scared for your parents to find out? No offense, but this is really fucking dumb, you're probably in your mid 20's, grow up.

    Yeah they will actually. Apparently (just learned this yesterday) all students at my college sign something saying the college can contact the parents if anything like this happened.

    im just glad nobody said "show them the union" and actually ment it. but seriously, dont show them the union. just sit down with them like an adult and say i smoke weed. im an adult and its a concious decision.
